I've just found a fix for this firstly you will need your isp's PPPOE password which they will give you no problem just ring them.Next on your Vita go to settings , Network Wi-Fi Settings , Click on whichever connection your on , Next click on Advanced Settings, Next click on ip address settings now enter the pppoe password the same in the two boxes and the password is case sensitive, cluck ok and that's it,Now simply do a connection test and your now on Nat Type 1.

irishvipers method is legit. i was stuck on nat type3 and simply went into advanced settings in the vitas wifi settings, clicked on ip address and changed it from auto to pppoe. then i entered the password, im using an eircom netopia router here in ireland and as far as im aware the default pppoe password is broadband1. i rang eircom for my password as i changed it years ago using this very same method to get a nat type 1 on my ps3. anywho once the password was entered i ran an internet connection test an got back a nat type 1, cheers viper

Re: ps vita stuck on nat type 3

I have the same problem, my vita shows NAT-type 3, while my psp says type 2. I always thought it was my modem giving the problems, especially because i have a *****ty Thomson TG789VN, which has been completely locked so you can't use DMZ or proper port forwarding. Now i'm convinced the Vita isn't handling uPnP like it should. A simple update can fix this. Until that , i won't be able to fully enjoy my Vita. Hell, i can't even play games online... Get your act together, Sony, and iron out those kinks in the firmware if you want to keep your customers!

Re: ps vita stuck on nat type 3

Iv just tried ringing Virgin media and they said the PPPoE adress or password info is not something they disclose to customers, ill try and ring SONY tomorrow but im starting to regret my purchase already if i can't play any games online with it.

Re: ps vita stuck on nat type 3

I'm a O2 broadband customer using their thomson II router. My vita works fine until i try and go online with Resistence Buring Skies on my vita and I get the NAT 3 error. My PS3 reports NAT 2 and the VITA reports NAT 3! I've tried open all port forwarding port allocated to the vita and also assigned it a static IP and still no joy. Given wipeout works fine online on my vita, it's it a game and/or firmware issue? Either way it's crap...

Re: ps vita stuck on nat type 3

Sure, but really having no luck just tried a fix that involved logging onto the O2 router using telnet and the SuperUser account make some changes and still stuck with nat 3. Gonna play some ghost recon instead to take my mi d off the problem before trying again :-)
