It doesnt matter if microsoft patented the cross game chat for consoles, as sony could fins another way of doing it or simply pay royalties to micrsoft so that has nothing to do with why ps3 doesnt have xgame voice chat

I don't see why it's so in demand anyway - can't imagine I'd use it a great amount - if I am playing a game, I only want to talk to people in that game with me, and if I'm playing a single player game I don't really want to talk to anyone at all.

You can't patent cross-game chat. There isn't only *one* way doing it, with only *one* set of technology to do it.

As u can't patent chat feature in ur social web, u can't patent cross game chat too. I said earlier. May be some features thaey have kept for ps4. Though it can be put in ps3.

For true game-agnostic cross platform chat, you need to make sure there's enough CPU time available for handle shuffling sound in and out, and it may be that Sony know that they can't currently guarantee that for all PS3 products. ...and some big PS3 developers may not be willing to exchange some of their valuale CPU time for such features.

Remember, the PS3 only has one PPU; the PS Vita has four general purpose cores (and for reference, the XBox 360 is tri-core). The SPU's can be used for certain sound encoding/decoding, but I doubt they will be able to help shuffling sound to/from the network..

Yeah i agree this is weird, they hav'nt even mentioned anything on CGC on PS3

if xbox can do it then im pretty sure playstation could because sony is way better and smarter the microsoft
