I have had a wifi vita since its release in the uk. From day one I have had no luck with the near or maps location services. After a few days and many Internet searches I decided to ring playstation support. Settings correct etc I was told to try it at a free wifi hot spot. Wow it worked!!!! But I didn't buy my wifi vita to only use it at a free wifi hot spot. I bought it so I could play at home and not annoy my partner by hogging the tv. I decided to contact my router provider, buffalo. After many calls it was clear that buffalo had no idea what I was talking about. I then got told to take it into the place I bought it from game. So off I went only to find that they seemed to think the wifi version couldn't utilise the near or maps function due to it not having no GPRS. So once more I called playstation support, only to be told its not there problem and that I basically need to fix it myself. I feel ripped off and am very disappointed with the service I have received from playstation. It's also very annoying because most of the game out and upcoming utilise these location features that I cannot use.
You say it worked at a wifi hotspot, so It's obviously your router that's at fault, therefore not Sony's fault. So I don't understand why you feel you have been ripped off! ?
I'm sure if you can figure out the problem with your router then your Near problem will be solved.

Because neither playstation or my router provider want to help.... According to my router provider it's all fine due to the fact that my iPod location services work fine on the same wifi. yes I do feel annoyed with playstation because it's clearly not just a problem with mine as this forum shows.
Im with you on this.
Both my iphone and my laptop location services work but just not my vita. It is frustrating as there is no official word on what is happening. I appreciate the mod giving the update the other day though.

These are almost certainly router/ISP issues but there could be a software conflict in which case nothing we do at the user level will work. iPad/iPhone are spurious argument because they use a different location service system - the fact they're working means nothing for Vita.
To fix the kind of problem you guys have, will take effort and knowledge.
Kavan gave up after one post and didn't put enough info in for him/her to be helped anyway.
What more info did you need? And thanks for your help by the way.
