I was with BE Umlimited which is owned by O2 and had a Thompson router. My Vita was stuck on NAT 3. I didn't really bother trying to resolve it as two or three months ago I changed to BT Fibre Optic with the Home Hub 3 and now my Vita is on NAT 2.
My Vita was nat type 3, stuck on it. I port forwarded, dmzed it. Nothing.
Then we upgraded to BT Infinity, and got the new homehub thing, and the problem resolved itself. I'd expect it was something to do with dodgey upnp on the old homehub, something to perhaps bear in mind.

Hi everyone! I am having trouble with my vita too it keeps showing that resistance MP needs NAT TYPE 2 and i have 3. I tried everything and i dont even know if its nat type 3 form my router or modemave a PS3 ) (and i dont h. I read that if you go to network cenections and click on your wifi connection in advanced settings and change the ip adress setting to PPPoE and put in your PPPoE user name and password it should solve the problem but i couldnt even connect to the internet like that. I contacted PSN but they tell me to troubleshoot my internet and connect the modem directly to the PS3 to know where your NAT TYPE is coming from but i keep telling that i dont have a PS3!! Please help me i was really hoping to play MP with my friends.( BTW i have a d-link router and my ISP is BELL)

Yeah i tried that too but i coudnt seem to connect to the internet maybe i was doing it wrong. My isp is BELL and they gave me a different PPPoE password. And the password has to be in both boxes right?

I just received my psvita and I was very excited until I encountered this strange problem:
When I connected my vita to my wireless router and I did a connection test, it read that the NAT type was type 3. Everything I tried on my router was a dead end, static ip for vita, port forwarding: every time NAT type 3. I know that this is not right and I should be receiving type 2.
And the most strange part is that both my ps3 (wired) and my psp (wireless like vita) show NAT type 2.
What is different with psvita?
Also I saw that many people here have problem with near app. Could you please do a connection test and tell me your NAT type?
Hey, what you need to do is call your internet provider and they will tell you how to switch to nat type 2. I had the same problem when i bought resistance burning skies. if you have anymore questions friend request me eminem53098. Good luck
