 Hi everybody,

As the RPG release calendar is looking a bit barren at the moment I thought I would take the opportunity to bring this PS3 exclusive upcoming RPG to your attention.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a Japanese RPG from Level-5 (the makers of White Knight Chronicles and The Dark Cloud series) that has been made in collaboration with the phenomenal animation studio Studio Ghibli, whose films include Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.

We were treated to a live demo from the game's publisher this week and I have to say that it looks absolutely phenomenal. Anyone that enjoys Studio Ghibli's films should definitely check this out!

More details, including amazing screen shots, can be found below:

  • An RPG born from the talent of two legendary studios - Ni no Kuni combines the renowned LEVEL-5 video game studio with the animation of the world class team at Studio Ghibli, and the music of the equally legendary Joe Hisaishi, composer on many Ghibli movies. The result is a RPG which expertly fuses these formidable talents.

  • A visually stunning game - During their travels with Oliver, players will be able to immerse themselves in a series of incredible environments, landscapes and cities, as if they were entering an animated movie universe inside a video game.

  • All the ingredients of a RPG and much more - LEVEL-5's mastery of the genre results in a game that offers the best of a RPG and more: a free roaming map, varied transportation systems, a tactical yet easy to handle combat system and a myriad of secondary quests, mini-games and bonuses.

  • A captivating story with anime-like cut-scenes - The player enters the magical universe of Ni no Kuni and begins the journey with Oliver, meeting all kinds of people on the way. Yoshiyuki Momose from Studio Ghibli supervised the storyboards for the in-game cut-scenes and provided stage directions for the motion capture sequences, bringing all his expertise from the animation world to bear on the game's story.

I dunno about you guys, but I cannot wait for this :D

Feel free to add to it - just put spoilers in a spoiler tag.

Got a few more hours in last night, did a couple of errands and spent a bit of time levelling up in a certain place, all good fun.

I'm not sure I have useful advice to give :smileyvery-happy: but I'll see what I can dig up.

Finished the game last night :smileysad: Luckily there is plenty to do post game to keep me occupied, particularly a boss that I thought was part of the storyline when I saw what the trophy (it's a hidden one) was. Nope, looks like its your typical JRPG post-game uber boss

Oh and I still have 150 familiar's to tame :smileyvery-happy:

Good luck!

I'm not fussed about 100% completion and getting all the trophies etc, just enjoying the story mainly It's a fantastic game, still nowhere near as good as FF9 but not so far off and I do hope we get future RPGs from these guys!

:smileyhappy: I'm a rubbish trophy hoarder, but I like this game and have too much free time on my hands so I may as well give it a go.

ah FF9 is my favourite of the FF games. Not my favourite JRPG though (tales of Symphonia and Skies of Arcadia ftw!). But Ni No Kuni is this best JRPG I've played in ages. Although I have only got two others on the PS3 and I hate them both... But still, good game!

Captain Whamtastic is easily my favourite familiar in my current arsenal. :)

As for me, I plan on eventually getting the platinum for this game but I'm avoiding game guides on Gamefaqs as it's more fun when you play with sub-optimal set-ups. :p

You really don't need game guides for Ni No Kuni. I've been figuring it all out as I go along, although I did check to see if there were any missable trophies. Luckily there aren't. Other than that I only needed help with my backwards translations. I had it right...just not the right way round  I was born blonde. I'm rolling with that excuse.

I love Captain Whamtastic. He's been Esther's main familiar since Castaway cove when he was in his first form.

Admittedly I picked a lot of my familiars based on how cute they are :smileytongue: screw tactics! I want all the cute! Just got myself an owl in a top hat and bow tie :D

They got me through the game without any game overs so, yay for my team of cute!

I know it's all part of working it out but I can't be bothered even though they are easy. The stories and pages are nice to read but nobody got time for that.

Perhaps if I had the book to hand and it wasn't in Japanese I might think differently lol. I get a couple of hours a night as it is on this game. I am not wasting time solving riddles. I would rather explore!

Do you mean the riddles from our green haired ghost friend or just some of the other stuff in general, if so I know what you mean at times.

Looking forward though to another couple of hours tonight :D

I've read a few pages of the wizard's companion but my completion time is hitting 8 hours even though I've not even stepped foot on old smokey yet.

I had to stop myself yesterday because I had spent over an hour trying to seduce the ripe banana bunch familiar - according to one of the side missions.

Too fun xD

Ive come to appreciate just how time consuming some of these post game missions are going to be. Particularly the final merit stamp one which requires ingredients that seem impossible to get.

Just defeated the optional secret boss though. He wasn't hard but the quest you do to get to him was irritating. Oh and mean, definitely mean. Plus the quest giver freaked the heck outta me (;-_-)

You certainly get a lot of game for your money ;)

Finally got round to playing this again. I'm now able to tame familiars. The familiars I don't have in my party don't level up. Is this right?

Yeah, I don't know how I'm supposed to find 5 Kaleidostones and Scrolls of the Truth. The only enemies that I've found so far that drop them aren't ideal for farming. :(

Still... I refuse to give up and consult Google. Right now I'm going through all the old dungeons and recruiting some of the new golden familiars that have shown up. I even have 2 Golden Tokos now which is pretty cool. :p I've also been running a new errand for Horrace that popped up after I finished his last riddle.

Yeah that's Kiez. You have to switch them over to level up which is kinda hard because you get used to one and don't want to lol

Damn, that's going be annoying when every familiar you tame starts at level one.
