I bought a 80gb PS3 from GameStation yesterday. As I was asking for one a guy was trading one in and said he only used it a handful of times. So as soon as he traded it in Gamestation checked it for me and sold me it. Plus the guy left God Of War 3 (no box) in the box the guy who served me said I can have it for free witch was nice of him.
Anyhow back to the point is there anyway I can tell how old the console is? It looks new not finger marks or scratches on it. I had a look at the serial sticker but no MF date on there.

id be a little cautious with a 2nd hand PS3 phat console. sure its an 80GB version but the main reasons that people trade in a console like a PS3 phat is because its either been faulty and replaced/repaired, they are seeing signs of issues like lock up`s and crashes, or they are just sick of the PS3 console.
hopefully its a good console and serves you well be just be warned most people upgraded to the PSP slim to make sure they have a warranty if they get a fault and let some other mug looking for a cheap bargain get the old console thats prone to breaking.
