Media Server: "A DLNA protocol error (501) has occurred"

13 Replies 22,670 Views Created 02-06-2008

Has anyone come across this error before? Can it be fixed? I've never had it before until now... My laptop media server appears under the video/music/photos menus but when I click on it, the error pops up.

I've tried enabling and disabling the media server scan, as well as allowing and denying access to it from the PS3 on the laptop...

Re: Media Server: "A DLNA protocol error (501) has occurred"

I had the same problem.

MY FIX:

I was using two networks on my PC; one was wireless and the other wired.  The wireless was conflicting with the DLNA protocol.  Once I stopped the wireless, it worked very well.  I'm sure it would have worked also if I had stopped the wired LAN connection, too.

Re: Media Server: "A DLNA protocol error (501) has occurred"

Hey,

Can you talk me through what you did in a little more detail?

I'm still getting no joy here and there seems to be little detail around on a fix / the error code.

Agree on that it mysteriously seemed to occur post most recent update.

Nothing else has changed in my household to give it any other reason to stop working!

Thanks,

Dino

[ Edited ]

You're asking advice from some one who posted here once almost 2 years ago and has never posted again, you know this right?

Edit: I'm pretty sure I'm talking to a first time poster who will never reply back to me or make another post here.
