Online deactivation is now available.

46 Replies 146,235 Views Created 19-11-2011

You can now deactivate any old/dead PS3 systems online :)

You cannot select individual systems to deactivate, it's all or nothing, this can only be done once every 6 months (you can still deactivate/activate as often as required via the console).

(1) Log into http://www.qriocity.com/au/en/ with your PSN log in details
(2) Account
(3) Media and Devices
(4) Click the game option, and then Deactivate All.

this is probably due to the reduction of activations from 5 to 2.

Or try here:

https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/login.action

from here you can view PS3 details for specific consoles. While viewing the details, it'll give you a button to de-activate that particular console, as shown:

The theory behind the deactivation is that you deactivate all of them and then only reactivate the ones you want.

As of November 18, 2011, the number of systems you can activate are:

  • For Game Content - Two (2) PS3 and/or PSP systems.
  • For Video Content - One (1) PS3 and up to Three (3) PSP systems.

That deactivate device button only provides instructions as to how to do it on a console in your possession, if you've got a dead one it can only be done via the method in first post. Assuming that the button has not changed since I last looked at it anyway.

Ah, I see now... you can't actually deactivate them individually via the web interface anyway... no matter.. I can't see it being an issue for me unless I get a Vita further down the track and have to remove my current PSP...

Hi Hanazakari,

Your account can be deactivated from a console regardless of the issue on it by going on the SEN website.

If you are using the cloud services with your PS Plus subscription, all your saved data can be transferred to your new console once you have deactivated your older devices.

PS Plus subscriptions can be continued on your new unit as well after a deactivation.

Cheers

And when it releases, the Vita is included in the PSP quota, making it 2 PS3's and 2 Handhelds.

Have a look here: http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network/Deactivating-Game-Media-using-the-Online-...

Once you deactivate your consoles you will need to go and manually reactivate the ones you wish to use.

Good point.

I'd suggest contacting PlayStation®Customer Service. They may be able to further assist you with this matter.

Incorrect. You can deactivate a PSP via WiFi, or using it connected to a PS3, or a computer.

If you log into the www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com site, you can deactivate ALL consoles currently associated with your account, once every 6 months - without having any of the consoles.
