PS3 not recognising music on my USB?

7 Replies 3047 Views Created 01-01-2011

I'm fairly new to Playstation 3 and this could be very obvious, but whenever I plug in my USB into the PS3 it recognises the USB itself in the music section, but not any music that is on it. Can anybody help?

Try this:

When you plug your usb into the PS3, scroll over to the music section and go to the usb and press triangle.
It should have an option for "display all". Do that and you can go through the usb and find what you want.
This works with videos and images too.

Re: PS3 not recognising music on my USB?

You need a specific folder structure. Create a folder called PS3, then in that folder you add your sub folders MUSIC, VIDEO, THEME, SAVEDATA and PHOTO, you can also add one called UPDATE if you update firmware from PC download. Obviously music goes in the MUSIC folder and so on, sholud solve your problem

That would be the reason that they don't appear when you hit x.
But there is no need to do that, like i said if you go to display all it shows everything anyway :smileyhappy:

Triangle button - Display All.

Thats what I do ..I find when you adhere to the PS3 subfolders

it takes 10 times as long to load the content

Re: PS3 not recognising music on my USB?

I set up my folders as suggested. I hit triangle on the USB drive icon...and I get nothing. Usually my PS3 freezes, then restarts itself. Highly irritated right now. I just want to listen to my music while I race in GT5!!! Help?

Try to get the USB stick into FAT32 format.
