Record ps3 to pc?

10 Replies 10,076 Views Created 24-02-2010

Hey, I know a bit about computers so there wont be any need to put anything in laymens terms,

I've found a few dazzle tutorials but I want to record in hd from my ps3 to my pc so I can make some videos

What's the cheapest and easiest ways to do this?

(i've searched a lot and most are long expensive ways :/)

Re: Record ps3 to pc?

yeah the guide above is good except for the intensity, you cant record through hdmi because of the hdcp protection ps3 uses, so you need to record through component technically.

as for the question, the cheapest way is the hauppague hd pvr, £170 at play.com

the intensity pro cap card is cheaper at £130, but you need a monster pc to use it smoothly.

you will most likely need a cpu, hard drive upgrade if not more.

i have one with core i7 2.8ghz/6gb ram/2x500gb raid0 drives.

the cost will drive up the £130 to well over £200 so hd pvr is cheapest

HD PVR is simply one of the best recorders right now, especially for gaming..any hd signal going through the hd pvr will be recorded, the codec alone is better than any other you will find.

Re: Record ps3 to pc?

I've just been searching and was wondering instead of buying the hauppauge would I be able to use this as a cheaper alternative?:

I've just got myself into more confusion, I just did a lot of research and a lot of guessing over the past 30 minutes, this is what I think in my head:

Play ps3 via hdmi, connect hdmi from ps3 to monitor

Leave that as what it normally is, then plug a wire from my monitor into my pvr which is inside my pc

If that would work, could I just search on ebay something like; 'component pvr'?

I want something cheap :/
