Update broke PS3!

12 Replies 891 Views Created 27-01-2011

Hello i updated the PS3 today as a update was released and i couldn't play a game without updating it. After it finished it restarted the PS3. Then i turned it on..  Went green, blue light flashed as normal but then it went red. Have you had this or am i the only one. I'm from the UK and if you can help us. Maybe theres a fix or do i contact Sony to replace it as it was their update that broke it?

Re: Update broke PS3!

erm shouldnt be its only gone on the blink now lol.. God help sony if about 30 billions worldwide have this problem as if they bring a PS4 out, erm half of the PS fans wont due to all the PS3 problems. Why risk your money on a product that keeps breaking. PS2 or PS1 never i havent had a problem with them so far.

Re: Update broke PS3!

PS2 and PSOne never had any firmware updates though... However, I've not heard of a PSP breaking from firmware updates without the user killing the power or removing the memory stick. I'm still suspicious about the PS3's firmware upgrade system as it is far too tempermental for my liking. I'll probably download tomorrow or whenever I have time to leave it on for a bit.

Re: Update broke PS3!

No one can say if a fw update breaks a system or not the only way to know for sure is after a few days and if there are quiet a few reports of systems bricking then it is quiet possible that a fw update maybe the cause.I am quiet confident that Sony test all  updates completely before they are released but sometimes things can be missed.

Dismissing people asking the question is totally wrong as I said no one including Sony can know for sure until a few days have passed and if there are hundreds of such reports then it is quiet possible that the update maybe at fault.

But as for now regarding the OP it is the first report I have seen and going on that I do feel that it is just a unfortunate coincidence .
