Upload Speed

6 Replies 311 Views Created 12-03-2012

How's it all going people, better than me I hope. Am having no end of trouble trying to play Modern Warfare 3 on PS3. The machine tells me the download speed 2.9mbps, but the upload speed ranges from 45kbps to 270kbps. When in the the lower end of the range the game is not worth playing (too much lag ).  Anyone got any ideas.  thanks

Re: Upload Speed

That's pretty bad. Do you have an ADSL2 modem/router?

How do the PS3 results compare to http://www.speedtest.net ?

Your ISP will ask you (if they're any good)

Do you have an ADSL2 compliant line filter on all of your telephones?

Is the phone cord that connects your router to your phone socket less than 2 meters long?

Re: Upload Speed

Yes I have a ADSL2 modem and router. The cable is about 6metres long. I did have it set up wirelesly at first but then started having all this trouble. The computers which the internet is also on dont seem to have any plroblems. I started playing MW3 today and the upload speed was 445kbps but after two games it was 50kbps. I'll check that speedtest site thanks heaps.

Re: Upload Speed (SOLVED)

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR HELP AND HINTS. FOUND 80% OF THE UPLOAD SPEED PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THE WIFI PHONE TRANSMITTER THAT WE USE FOR THE FOXTEL UNIT WAS INTERFERING WITH THE PLAYSTAION SIGNAL. ONCE I DISCONNECTED THE FOXTEL TRANSMITTER THE GAMES WERE PLAYABLE AGAIN ( mostly anyway ). Again thanks :smileyhappy:

Re: Upload Speed (SOLVED)

Good news. You could try changing the wi-fi channel on your router. Some routers allow you to scan for clear channels. Wifi really is rubbish though.
