I reecently came into a problem with my PS3 which is around 2 years old. No games work, they sometimes come up on the XMB but never start, but when i start it, the game doesnt load) i called up Sony and they said it'll cost £140 to give me a new console, my warrenty has gone so thought i might aswell try and fix it myself.
I opened up the case and took out the blu ray drive. i cleaned the lens, put it back in, only really disconnecting two cables which were connected to the Blu Ray Drive. put the case back on and put the power cord back in.
No light comes on at the front and it wont turn on through the ps3 controller either.
I have no idea how this could have happened as i only touched cables which connected to the blu ray drive.
As the void sticker is now damaged. will Sony stil take it and replace it for £140?
As others have said Sony will give you plenty of options, dependent on the fault.
