Will my TV work?

14 Replies 294 Views Created 15-05-2006
I have a Toshiba HDTV but it doesnt have a HDMI connection, could anybody tell me if I could use this HDMI female to DVI-D male adaptor to connect the PS3 to my TV? Or does anybody know if the PS3 may have different cables available like the 360 that had VGA (my TV only accepts HD signals through DVI-D and VGA as it's really just a big PC monitor, 27").

I hope so! Im in the same situation. I've got a Marantz HDTV with a female DVI-D connection at the back. So if anyone does know how this is going to work with a PS3 I'd be grateful!

Re: Will my TV work?

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes - the PS3 should work from anything from a non-HDTV up to those that support 1080p.

If there isn't an HDMI to DVI-D cable in the PS3 box then you should be able to buy one and use that. i am also the same - Philips HD TV with DVI-D HDCP.

You don't have to use HDMI, there's also SCART and Component.

Yeah, but for the cleanest signal - if using the 60GB version - I would have thought HDMI to DVI-D would be the best option as there is no digital to analogue conversion going on. Yes?

I've heard you won't be able to tell the difference between HDMI and Component unless your playing on a screen 42"+

Re: Will my TV work?

Component would be alright as you can buy component to VGA transcoders.
