Hi xDarK_Bab3x,

Have you tried restoring default setting on your PS3?

If you go to System Settings > Restore Default Settings it will reset your Network Settings so you can set this up again from the start.

The error code usually refers to disconnecting a device too soon, and a data transferring issue.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi there,

Have you tried this through an ethernet connection as well. If you do try through an ethernet, I would attempt to reset the the modem or router (or combo) prior to attempting a wired connection. If for example you unplugged the ethernet on a PC and plugged into the PS3 it frequently doesn't work, or detect the modem, as you describe. Resetting the network devices each time reconfigures it for the wired device.

Have you also recently swapped Internet Service Providers as well?

Yeah I just had this problem, my internet was working fine on my laptop and I'd been downloading a game overnight on my ps3 and then it just stopped. I did the internet connection test and it told me it couldn't find an IP address because of error 8001000A, I switched off the router and switched it back on again but still no difference, my laptop was still hooked up fine but nothing from the PS3, I figured maybe the PS3 was a bit overworked because I hadn't turned it off for about two days so I turned the PS3 off, left it coll for a few minutes, turned it back on and it was fine, hooked up to the internet and downloading again, weird.

Well, I've manually updated to 4.41 and am no further forward. Still receiving this error. It now starts up and sometimes logs into PSN for about a minute or so then disconnects. If I am using part of the XMB that requires a PSN connection, it crashes the XMB when the connection fails. I have also ran Safe Mode options 3 and then 4 again to no avail.

RANT WARNING

I have already decided that whenever I come to 'upgarde' to next gen gaming I will be building myself a bespoke desktop PC. Not only is this something I've always wanted to do anyway but I now feel my money will be better spent on something I can look after myself. I won't have to rely on a single company (and their limited proprietary software) to fix a problem. At least with Windows OS there are often many work arounds for just about every problem. As much as I'd like to stick with my childhood brand of consoles, I don't think I will.

Back in the good ol' days, before firmware and the like, the PS1 and PS2 mostly had mechanical and heat related failures. A games console did one thing (mostly), it played games and similar disc'ed media. There was no faffing around with firmware updates, complicated settings, or hoping that online features will work. The PS3 and probably PS4 are so much like full computers that you may as well just have exactly that, so that when things do go wrong, you stand a better chance of sorting it.

Rant over.

Next update Sony, please sort this.

Turning off the playstation and turning it back on did not solve my problem

I did Safe Mode

options 2-5

It still wont connect, it will work for 1 minute then drop the connection. There are a ton of access points around her and when I try to connect an ethernet cable it does not detect it.

It is the 4.41 update because my PS3 was working fine before this.

Now Sony wants to charge me to replace a console that their update broke, how does that even make sense?

Have you tried using a custom DNS server and placing your PS3 in your routers DMZ?
