I want to connect my european (PAL) PS3 to an american (NTSC) sony LCD TV.
How can I do it ?
Should the HDMI work ?
Or maybe the component ?
How should I set the PS3 and the TV ?
I had the same problem.
You should buy component cable for PS3 (it costs about 10-20 $) and connect your PS3 with this cable to the TV.
at the risk of sounding stupid .. what is a component cable :s ? can you send me a link to one so i know what i m looking for.
ok so i ve connected it using my HDMI cables, and its now in colour, but the screen is still flickering up and down rapidely. Any advice?
i googled PS3 component cable and the results looked a lot like what i have.. which i thought was HDMI cables .. (the green, blue, red video cables + red and white audio ones)
I have question.. If i have PAL TV, and NTSC PS3 component cable will works ?
Please fast answer..
yes im sure..
its red, blue, white, orange, green yep? :D
probably - ish ;)
should be red and white (audio), and red blue and green.
One of your red ones is probably orange to show the difference between red audio and red video - I guess! :D
heres what i did
connect the PS3 through HDMI (worked on both, my NTSC computer monitor and NTSC TV) Unchecked the 576 box, checked 720 and 1080 and viola!
I also face the same problem here.
I just moved to the US and my stuff arrived. Full of energy I wanted to connect my PS3 to a Tohshiba regza LED in inhereted by a former colleague.
It is no problem to play, but as soon as I want to watch a Pal (RegionCode2) DVD the screen stays dark.
I can here the sound, talk everything but I can`t see the picture.
I also tried to work with the component cable with the same results.
I am also not allowed to get rid of the 576 pic in the settings.
Do you have any suggestions for me to try!?
Thanks in advance!!!
I have my UK (PAL) PS3 connected to a Korean (NTSC) TV via an HDMI cable. It was working fine until I stupidly tried re-setting the video output to deal with a problem playing DVDs. I now can't even play games (which was previously fine), presumably because it's gone back to 576i which isn't supported on an NTSC TV. I just get a message on my TV saying it doesn't support the resolution.
Is my only option to wait until back in the UK, connect there and re-tick the other resolution options? If I connect it to an old PAL TV via the composite cable will I only have the option of 576i or can I re-select the higher resolutions?
you could try resetting the video again - which MAY help...
hold down front power button until second beep
I have done thanks but unfortunately it still stays at 576i which isn't supported on NTSC TV. I think my only option is connecting to a PAL TV and re-selecting the other resolution options (besides 576i) but I'm not sure I'll be able to select other options if connected through the standard cable.
