My Playstation 3 Slim will not let me sign in to playstation network what happened is i had a thick ps3 but it was really slow on cod mw2 so we rang playstation and they changed all the settings and then it would not let me even sign in, then i saw that there was a problem so we changed it for a slim but it still wont sign in to my account

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with signing in to your PSN account. I suggest contacting the support line for further assistance because we need to know a bit more information to determine why you are not able to sign in to your account.
It does a PSN test and if that passes then make sure you have the correct email and password when you sign in to PSN.
Also try deleting your account then input it again.

If it is saying you cannot use this account it would be coming up an error code also. If you have that error code I would suggest you contact Sony directly. You can find the numbers in a sticky post at the top of this section. If you're not in Australia or New Zealand, you can find the numbers in the correct area of the forum for you instead.
They are doing that for no reason these days.
I got my account banned for no good reason. It was based on a post I did in this forum. It's not true so they are banning on anything they can find.
If they dont like you they will ban your account. Thats what's happened to me.

When i try to sign in is comes up 'server has timed out' anyone have any answers to that?
Are you getting any error codes on the screen that may assist?
Else, I'd suggest there may be a couple of issues to test out.
If you're connected via WiFi, either try via Ethernet instead.
If via WiFi, the problem may also be low WiFi signal strength (should be consisently > 75% for optimal connection) or your SSID / WPA Key details are being entered incorrectly.
Check with your ISP that your speed is sufficient (512Kbps at least) - ie. make sure you haven't exceeded any imposed data quota / limit for the month, which has resulted in slowing your service temporarily, or that your ISP are not experiencing any services issues relating in slow / no service.
WIth regards to Internet issues, it's generally advisable to power cycle your modem and PS3 - turn each off for 5 minutes, and then turn your PS3 back on after the modem has completely rebooted.
Also, restore settings -> Settings -> System Settings -> Restore Default Settings (make sure you know what your email address and password are, as these will no longer be saved on the profile)
