Hey guys I have 3 controllers, all fairly new. 2 of them decided to stop charging so I got a new charger, and still wont charge. When I connect the charger to the controller it flashes red once (normally flashes continuously) and then stops. This happens on both of them. I know its not to do with the charger because its a new charger and also the other controller charges fine with it. I even bought a brand new controller, this charges but then only turns on when its connected through the USB charger, just acts dead when its wireless. Any ideas or anything I can? Cheers Dan

If your DS3 controller is not charging properly please follow the steps in our troubleshooting article to see if it solves the problem.
Tried the reset button on the back and then re-syncing the controllers?
EDIT - If you can't find the reset button
do I press the reset button and L2 at the same time or just the reset button?
OK GUYS I GIVE UP!
I just bought a brand new charger, to try and charge the brand new controller and it charges for about 20 seconds then turns off with the USb charger still plugged in! Why is it stopping? Even with 20 seconds of charge gone into it, it STILL won't turn on without having to be plugged in.
Please help, this is getting beyond a joke now!
Haven't read the thread fully so apologies if this is of no help. Are you using a USB charger that plugs into the mains? I have a Pelican (I think its called) & if the controller battery is completely flat or very low sometimes It wont charge. If it doesn't I hook the controller up to the ps3 for 5-10 minutes then try again & it usually charges fine.
You can't use ANY kind of USB cable. I tried that. You have to use specific ones.
Maybe the controller has a match with its USB, If you notice on the USB it says Either A or B, So I think that you're controller is matched with a USB. So that's probably why? Anyways I will give a comment if it works. You should test it to if you think that's what it is. P.S you can plug it into pc for charging. That could possibly work too.
Anyway, Thanks Marc.
i gotta say, even tho im a few months late... I FREAKING LOVE U!!!
i have 4 controllers (1 move tho) and ALL THE OTHER 3 CONTROLLERS stopped charging on same day... i connected the USB cable but it didn't connect nor lose battery, also, when playing FIFA11 and i hit the crossbar, the controller vibrates and shuts down for some 3 secs just to reboot right away
had been looking through and i gotta say i was losing hope
then, i saw ur post.. worked fine with 2 of them (that simply weren't charging) but i had tried to press the RESET button on the back of the 3rd one, now it doesn't work... gonna keep looking around. Still, thank you! :D
I had trouble charging my controller it worked fine when wired. But just didn't charge. Make sure you are using the cable that came with the controller as some usb chargers WONT charge but will allow other functionality... Make sure the 4 LED's are flashing whilst charging.
I had the issue described in this post: controller worked when plugged in but would not charge. After unplugging, system would report that controller battery is low.
For me, the issue was a faulty cable. The mini-USB to USB cable I was using must have been faulty, because when I switched it out with another cable of the same type, the controller would charge. If I switched the faulty cable back in, the controller would not charge. Hope this helps!
