I don't know why when I connected my PS3 to power it didn't work and did not even turn on the light of stand-by (the red one) and this is very weird because I never had any problem with it and I tried to connect it in other place and it didn't make a difference. Somebody who knows what may had happened or what can I do?
I need help please!!
i got the same problem
asked around and the problem could be PSU or Hardisk
But in our case it more likely be the PSU (power supply unit)
I had almost exactly the same problem and was told it is not the fault of SONY designing the PS3 to overheat on warm days and making the power supplys fail for hundreds of thousands of customers.
I replaced my power supply unit and the PS3 failed again withing a weeks use.
If yours is out of SONY warranty year, a local repair shop will likely only replace the power supply without garuntee, as the problem could also/alternatively be the overheating of the graphics chip and the repeated failure of the thermal paste causing chip cooling problems and any associated electrical communication faults.
Whatever the problems is, many SONY people here people might blame you, not SONY for poor thermal design issues hundreds of thousands of people are having across the globe.
After replacing two power supplies I bought a new PS3.
I am now waiting for Samsung to make a console that plays Ps3 games.
Remember; a PS3 does not appear to be expected to last as long as a TV or camera.
When the console is completely unresponsive you want to identify where the fault is. So try a different power socket then a different cable. If the console is still not powering up then there is a fault with the unit and you should contact PlayStation Support for further assistance.
Thanks for your answer mate and I was thinking that maybe the problem could also be that my PS3 is of the first generation because I bought it in 2008 but I don't know.. I will try a different power supply unit to see if it makes a difference
First of all i have to ask... does it work when its not connected to power? :Stupid:
But seriously. can you descride what happens? Do you get a red light? if so what happens when you press the power button? anything?
For most people with that situation it would be;-
1. Red light.
3. Green light.
4. a few seconds pass; TV may flash around or not...
5. Flashing red light.
6. Wash, rinse and repeat.
