This guide aims to explain the purpose of those big scary buttons at the bottom of posts that you'll see when posting and replying to posts in this section (And the rest of the forum too!).
Mark As Solution
When you make a thread in the forums you'll see a new icon appear:
If somebody submits a post in your thread that solves your problem, or links to another post containing a solution, then click the button in their post to "tick" their post and label it as the solution.
A link will appear in your first post allowing anyone to jump to the solution straight away! This is great for people who have the same problem as you, and allows you to quickly find that post again should the problem reoccur.
If you make a mistake and mark the wrong post, simply click the "options" link on the ticked post and click "Not the Solution" to cancel and allow you to choose a new one. If there isn't a solution, simply leave it blank. Don't mark it solved unless it's actually solved
Along the way to finding your solution, there may be people in your thread, or in a thread you're reading who are trying very hard to help with the problem at hand.
If you think their post is helpful, or if they've given tips that worked for you, then give them Kudos to show your appreciation. Click the button to add to the posts count. More kudos mean that more people found the post helpful.
Here's an example of a post with One Kudo and that has been marked as an Accepted Solution. The number of kudos are shown next to the button shown above, and the tick showing the solution is shown next to the thread title.
Thanks for reading and hopefully this makes the buttons around posts a bit easier to understand! If you've got any further questions feel free to reply here.
Solved! Go to Solution.
THIS.RIGHT.HERE! Ladies and Gentlemen, is the thread you need to take note from!
