Transfer Data from one PS3 to another PS3???

41 Replies 30,529 Views Created 15-12-2009

It seems you could probably connect to the PS*network on different PS3 machines, for example get your friendslist up at your uncles house or friends house...

But....i was wondering if it were possible to copy game data from one machine and then transfer it on a new machine. Im planning to get another ps3 and give my old one away. So it would be nice to save the game data e.g. saves/trophies...

trophies might be sync'ed with the PS*network login, but the game data its self...

Yes - if you upgrade both PS3s to FW version 3.15 you can do that using network cable plugged between both of them ... :smileywink:

It's worth noting that any content that is Copy Protected will be MOVED. That is, deleted from the original PS3. :smileywink:

Does it not remove all data from the source PS3? I was under the impression it did.

Not sure TBH. I have only ever heard about the Copy Protected stuff being moved. I was under the impression that it Copied the bulk of the data BUT moved the protected stuff.

Has anyone on these forums has the balls to even try it yet? :smileyhappy:

Re: Transfer Data from one PS3 to another PS3???

I tried it last night and was told that the receiving PS3 needs 85GB for the process to complete. It tries to copy everything. I only want a couple of copy protected save *****.

Just copy everything, you can always delete it after. Or better still, delete the content from the source PS3 before you start the utility.
