I for one was very annoyed by the initial announcement of an inferior EU LPB 2 Collectors Edition, but it was somewhat redeemed when they announced it would retail at the same price as the std edition

One important and cool thing to note is that this core Collector’s Edition, with all of the exclusive additional content, has the same recommended retail price (RRP) as the standard edition.

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/11/17/littlebigplanet-2-round-up-grabinator-featurette-collector...

So why are Game selling it online for an extre £5???

http://www.game.co.uk/search.aspx?&s=LittleBigPlanet+2+(Move+Compatible)

The offical response from Playstation on their blog...

Is there any reason why Game are charging an additional £5 for the Collectors Edition, when it clearly stated on here it would be the same RRP as the Std Edition.

I’m pushing for an answer on this, but the basic gist is that we can only provide a RRP (Recommended Retail Price) to retailers, which, in this case, is the same across the two versions. How much they actually sell it for is down to them, which is why prices vary.

It's only £5 more than the standard edition. I don't see how it's a rip off. :|

Game often put up incorrect prices above RRP before changing them closer to release, they recently had Sly Collection for £40 when the RRP is only £30, they changed it to £30 by the time the game was released.

you sound like you drink buckets of fluride dude!, that post sounded so desperate, and the thing is if YOU let them away with it then others will have to pay. obviously its on a much larger scale but if your sounding this desperate and apathetic then i can only guess ther'd be thousands more like you.

Its not the actual amount that is the problem.

The US got a real cool collectors edition with book end, etc, and when they announced the EU edition without the extras, just DLC, there was an uproar on the blog

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/11/09/littlebigplanet-2-collectors-edition/#comments

SCEE went some way to redeeming this when they announced the price would be the same as retail, which for me is a good deal.

Now Game are taking the **** by adding an extra fiver just to boost their profit margins.

If Game buy the game at the same price as the normal one then it's crappy of them.
If Sony sell the game for more but suggest the same RRP then it's them being crappy instead of Game.

the point being that, sony recognised that the EU version of the LBPCE is basically pants!

on the blogs there was a huge outcry about it. so sony have said that the LBPCE will carry the same rrp as the standard edition £39.99!

but game in there wisdom decide to cash in on this and have added a fiver!

now if sony hadn't of said anything about the price then i suppose an extra fiver for the content and steel tin edition aint a lot, but the fact they did smacks of game cashing in on a huge title!

Boosting their profit margins by selling a game at a higher price than most other online retailers?

Just buy it elsewhere. Game.co.uk will lower the price closer to release anyway, their prices (and boxart) are always pretty random until closer to release.
