I for one was very annoyed by the initial announcement of an inferior EU LPB 2 Collectors Edition, but it was somewhat redeemed when they announced it would retail at the same price as the std edition

One important and cool thing to note is that this core Collector’s Edition, with all of the exclusive additional content, has the same recommended retail price (RRP) as the standard edition.

So why are Game selling it online for an extre £5???

The offical response from Playstation on their blog...

Is there any reason why Game are charging an additional £5 for the Collectors Edition, when it clearly stated on here it would be the same RRP as the Std Edition.

I’m pushing for an answer on this, but the basic gist is that we can only provide a RRP (Recommended Retail Price) to retailers, which, in this case, is the same across the two versions. How much they actually sell it for is down to them, which is why prices vary.

Sorry but the RRP of a game is £49.99 (Bar Call of Duty titles). Game retailers then choose their pricing accordingly. Sony sell it for the same RRP so what is the problem? RRP is recommended retail price, not the actual price you pay....

*sigh* :(

Therefore, as you correctly point out, the RRP of the Std Edition is £49.99, but discounted online to £39.99, still leaving a markup for the retailer. The RRP for the Collectors Edition is also £49.99, which has been discounted to £44.99, leaving even more markup for the retailer, and extra expense to the consumer. When the whole point was to appease the fans by giving them something for free,

I think the point V00D00CHARL1E is trying to make is that the Sony were trying to make up to the fans for a poor LBP2 CE. Sony told us that the RRP of the CE would be the same as the RRP of the standard version however Game.co.uk have listed the standard versions RRP as £49.99 BUT have listed the Collectors Edition RRP as £54.99 as can be seen here

http://www.game.co.uk/Games/_/N-1z13fvf/?s=Little+Big+Planet+2

Now of course Game dont have to sell games at the RRP, they could lower it for example, selling at above the RRP is idiotic as people will just go elsewhere or they could just sell it at the RRP. My point is this Sony told the fans one thing and Game have done the other, Game are in charge of setting the RRP of Sony products, Sony are.
