PS3 compatibility

Guys, I am new in this but I will start with a strike. I believe that every multi media company that plan to keep its followers(Clients) happy make sure their product can work with the previous generation of this product. Windows does that and even Apple specially with Iphones. Sony tried it at the very beggining of PS3 production then instead of improving the product with new feaures, these guys downgraded the PS3. Result the new generation of PS3 only feature according to me is that it doesn't heat quickly. Except that this is just a gaming machine on the market with the main purpose to rip us. What I understand is that PS3 is all about softwares and this make it easy for Sony to provide us with an upgrade that allow us to play our PS2 games on the PS3. Blueray machines plays DVD. we are getting ride of our old dvd's not because our Bluray's can't play them but because of the space. Why do Sony doesn't do that? The answer is clear they want to rip us.

I suggest that unless Sony provide us with this upgrade, we stop buying their products. I have no intention to keep wasting hardly earned money just because of a company greed.

Pass the word guys and let us see what Sony will do with this.

Thank for all of you who will understand this as I do.

Below is a Signature

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

I don't even know what he's on about when going off onto one about us getting rid of DVD's because of space and not because the Bluray player doesn't play them.

Another weird rant that was news a few years back by some strange person who lives in the past.

Not compatibility with everything but with its own previous product. This is one of the most importatn aspect of loyalty-I mean having the intention to keep most of the regular customers satisfied. By the way I understand that some of us are enough loaded to own a cinema room in their Haciendas. What about people with less space? Should we keep all our old machines just because of compatibility issues?

To be honest I haven't used my ps1 or ps2 since I bought my ps3. The games don't seem as good as they did.

Sony decided to cut manufacturing costs and make PS3 more affordable by taking the BC enabling hardware chips out. It's not like the majority of consumers need that feature. Software only emulation of PS2 games on PS3 is very hard - memory being one of the issues. You need a relatively powerful PC to run a fluid emulation of PS2 or Gamecube games and PS3 is pretty old tech by now.

hey hey

am I the only one sitting here thinking that the op is living on another planet.

when the PS3 was launched it had backwards compatibility. The early adopters for pretty much any console are usually pre generation owners so PS2 owners who upgraded to a ps3 had everything their hearts desired with the added benefit of a blu ray player.

sony took a wise decision in removing the backwards compatibility as those late to the game are usually new console owners, new generation gamers or those waiting for a cheaper price.

check out some of the PS2 games on the store if your really that desperate for some retro love or find a cheap ps2 in CEX/ebay if you got games you wanna play.

if you had/have ps2 games.. where is your ps2 now ?

I still find the lack of PS2 BC annoying, as many of the PS2 JRPGs are still noticeable better than the PS3 JRPGs.

I just hope the PS4 will have a decent emulated PS2 BC, as the PS3 isn't powerful enough to emulate a PS2 properly (except for the less demanding games but they are still quirky and not 100% as seen in the recent PSN re-releases).

The answer is then if you want to play ps2 games then buy a 2nd hand ps2. You can pick up a phat ps2 for about £10 these days. Hardly expensive.

I totally agree. After spending as much as I have on PS3 games I am insulted that the 'upgraded' PS4 model won't recognise them when I try to play them.

The only way I can play PS3 games now is to replace my yellow lighted PS3 and guess what? PS3's are getting to the age where they all fail. There are tonnes of forum posts (within this community and others) where PS3's are failing faster than young marriages. I'm sick to death of spending money with Sony. The number of exclusive games they have that I actually want to play totals up to three. Asides from three games I have NO REASON to own a PS3...

Microsoft get how to treat customers, the Xbox One can play Xbox 360 games. Now that is unacceptable. Sony have decided "NOT to compete with their competitors" over who has the best console. They've gone off on a tangent where the only winner is them. They make all the money, they hardly support us unless they give us software updates, if the hardware stops working properly they bring out a replacement console and obsolete all of the games for the previous console! It's absolutely insane!

What do we get for our loyalty? Nothing. I didn't get a discount for a PS4 after spending nearly £1k on PS3 consoles, games and accessories... I didn't get any support when my PS3 couldn't load certain games so honestly, forget about Sony and start PC gaming. I've been using Steam since the PS2 days and they have always been on point with supporting customers. I now only want a PS3 to play Gran Turismo and according to the forums and from a tiny bit of my personal experience the bugs are serious and their customer support (polyphony digital) is SOMEHOW more  awful than Sony's is.......... I'm not wasting any more time with Sony. I'm going to obtain a PS3 (probably borrow one from a mate) I'll play Gran Turismo 6 till I'm bored and then I'll forget I ever invested my cash in a Playstation. The biggest name in the gaming industry absolutely backed themselves into a corner. Now they've got several million consoles out there that the hardware is becoming less available for, the people developing them are annoyed at all the hard effort they've wasted and now they want to start on 'more computer based consoles' by releasing the PS4.

To ice the cake, they have made some PS3, PS2 and PS1 games available on the Playstation Store... Obviously you have to pay for them again... Doesn't matter if you sunk £10-£20 on the game when it was brand new, you must re-purchase it to play it or invest in hardware that cannot be serviced... Right... PC Gaming Woop!

Emulators... Woop!

[DELETED] 'em.
