So i bought a ps3 the other day with 37 gb and im trying to download persona 5 (16.6 gb) but it says i dont have the space. Do you know how i can fix this orsomething
You need at least double the amount of space available.
Though that doesn't quite make up 37GB it's tight and you don't say what else is installed, how big the hard drive is etc.
Which model is it? Is it new or used?
Depending, you''l have to make more space or install a larger capacity hard drive.
is the old 40gb model used without anything installed (at least that i know of)@Oran_Gina
Your purchased a Pre-Owned Console??
Is it an old 40GB Model??
Did you reset the Pre-Owned Console back to Factory settings and format the HDD to be safe??
By Safe, I mean..
If the HDD is much larger and you have only 37GB remaining.....
You may be using Games from another PSN user's Account (namely the person the Console belonged to previously), then you might end up loosing both your own Account and the Console as Sony will ban them when they detect it. Sony don't like people selling their Accounts.

40GB minus the operating system will drop the capacity down quite a bit.
Your best bet is to upgrade the HDD to something bigger as some games in the market place are well over 40Gigs to play.
Lots of YouTube vids on how to upgrade the HDD - very helpful if you don't know what you are doing.
It's just a matter of switching out the old for a new HDD
I put a old laptop HDD in mine a few years back, the console formats it and you are ready to go. At least thats all I did.
I'm not sure, but I think you might be able to get a 1TB in there if you wanted to go that high. or go cheaper and buy something in the region of 320 to 500GB. Really depends on how much storage space you want or how much you are willing to spend.
Yeah i think i have 1 in all this junk i already saw a video explaining it looks simple enought@S2N-Ava
Yup it's very simple.
1. Locate the flap on the end of the console.
2. Prise it off and undo the holding screw.
3. Pull out the Caddy - there should be 4 screws holding the HDD in place, undo them and replace the HDD taking note of the orientation of the one that you just took out.
4. Tighten the 4 screws back up, place the Caddy firmly back in making sure it connects with the Motherboard connections.
5. Tighten the holding screw, replace the flap and power up.
The console should detect the new HDD and format it for you.
Yup it's just that simple.
When the PS3 first came out, these games were not quite so large as they are nowadays, so 40GB worked fine.
Now we have games that are well over the 40GB mark, and as Gina mentioned earlier, you also need twice the space to update the games.
You are looking for a HDD that has SATA connections.
yeah thanks i already found one in here and its working fine now. Thank you for everything@S2N-Ava
I had a 12GB ps3 and I played my games normally but when I connected my ps3 to the internet, I needed more space to download updates, download games from the ps store and stuff like that. I went to electronics shop and in 2 days they have putted me 500GB hard drive. I think that 500GB for a ps3 it's enough. There are several videos on youtube about how to put a 500GB hard drive or if you don't want to do it on your own, then go to a technical to fix it.
