I have a refurbished 60GB unit, currently over a year old. But has developed a fault where the fan has suddenly become very loud from the first few minutes of it being on. Even when just left on the XMB, not gaming. It sounds like the fan is on top speed constantly which makes using it very difficult as you have to turn the TV loud to drown it out.

 

 

Anyway, I called up the support line yesterday, half expecting to pay £130 for a replacement but was absolutely thrilled when they told me the unit would be replaced for FREE!! The console is being picked up tomorrow. Every time I have dealt with SONY's customer services they have been amazing, this being my 2nd time contacting them. I cannot praise them enough, top notch customer service.

Crap Crap Crap,, This is my story to show you how a company should run,My HP PC developed a fault haedware not software,1 Year 5Months out of warranty I contacted HP ,Went through the usual what's the problem sent them a video of the problem on the same day,Response on the same day sir we will have it collected tomorrow morning but we will have to send it to the Uk.

Collected on a Monday returned from the UK on a Thursday Fixed and with a additional 12 month warranty not 1/2/3 month but a additional 12 month warranty,, That is customer service not this crap give us half the cost of the unit and we shall fix our badly made product and give you a 3 month warranty..

 

 

Anyone spot the difference between a company who are prepared to stand by their products even do their out of warranty and those who don't,Spot the difference between a company who have faith in their repair personal and give a 12 month warranty after repair and not a 3 month repair warranty which you have paid for ,, Anyone else see the difference ?

HAAAAA sony.... excellent.... customer service..... i think i had a dream like that once, i own a sony vaio which came 2 months late after constantly arguing with sony staff who said they delivered in when no1 was in when i was home all week, and also had a refurd ps3, it got YLOD after about 14months and they quoted me 150.. for another broken up refurb, disgrace if you ask me, SONY are great, but not there service

Sony don't do home deliveries. They use a third party company so the Sony employee would have been telling you what the delivery company had told them. So not Sony's fault, is it?

 

14 months is 2 more months than the standard 12 month warranty. Sucks, but it's true. If you bought a fridge and it blew up after 14 months, do you honestly think you'd get a new one, free of charge? OR do you think you'd have to pay for an engineer?

 

So why is that ok, but if a PS3 goes wrong after 14 months, people demand a free replacement?

 

Some people need a reality check.

Printers? What else do they do? I always thought of them as a PC & Printer manufacturer.

HP are huge now. Phones, tablets, servers, PCs, printers and much more.

They also offer IT support to businesses, and this is the part I work in.

Like I say, huge company.

I've been buying Hp printers for the last 8 years, I love them

 

The ink is so much cheaper then Lexmark and the printers never let me down

They just buy out companies. They bought out the company I worked for that has the contract on the UK Government accounts (EDS), so I'm now HP.

 

They bought out Palm Pre recently and they are continuing to look for more opportunities to expand

Is that based at Amen Corner? I used to work there, many moons ago, when they had the software contracts for mobile phone base station testing for Nokia, Motorala and Ericsson. It was at the time they were working with Benneton in F1, which I would have loved to work on!

Ah, I didn't think you were southern based. They were great to work for though, and introduced me to the delights of Assam tea! Easily pleased and all that, but their teabreak facilities were second to none!
