STICK WITH THE 60 GIG MODEL??

20 Replies 550 Views Created 15-01-2011

Hi guys , just recieved my third console back from Sony, the first two died from the same problem.

So is it worth me shelling out even more money when this one dies, (which it probably will)

or should i just get myself a new slim console. I don,t mind moving with the times but i do like

the backwards compatability this version offers. Has anyone out there changed consoles only

to find out they regret it?

I'd get rid of your current one ASAP. Sell it to CEX or something. It won't be long before you get another problem. They are refurbs. Then use that money and get a slim. If you want to play PS2 games, get a PS2.

You could just wait for when the 60GB dies before getting a slim - unless you're wanting to save money, in which case trade it in whilst it's in working order.

I liked the backwards compatability as well, but at the end of the day, did I really use it when there were plenty of next-gen games to choose from - no.

I have an original 60gb model and I love it to bits and will replace it with another when it dies. It has been refurbed once already.

I also have a slim which I use as my main console, but I dont like it half as much. It just feels tacky and common. I think if you were lucky enough to get one of the original consoles you should do all you can to keep hold of it.

I'm with you on that, the new ones don't look as beautiful as the old ones. I had to take mine back to get repaired within in hours of getting it because the process didn't go right after weeks and weeks of calling back and fourth and endless trips I decided to let it die and go for a slim.

Can't fault the slim for it's reliability it's just it's looks.  Decided to keep the shell of the 60 though.

I am a bit stubborn on this, I have had and will probably always have a 60Gb - I think they look the best and the 4 usbs, the other ports and the touch disc-eject system arereally great. The 60 gbs were stopped because of several factors - primarily because of the miniturisation of the Cell and also because of backwards compatability in terms of PS2 discs no longer being required. There have been a few failures with 60gbs (I am no my 4th!! - two of those failures were my fault). The slims seem to be much more reliable. I think it is down to which one you prefer - perhaps get a Slim for a change!!!

Best thing to do (for now anyway) is to get a slim and a cheap Ps2 from somewhere :). Best of both worlds that way. :)

Keep the 60GB as a collector's item (if you're into that stuff) and get the slim.

There's something about the FAT that just says class when you look at it. The slim looks like a toy IMO, the FAT looks like a beast.
