Can't change resolution in settings

9 Replies 1,842 Views Created 30-11-2013

I'm not getting a very good picture from the ps4,now my tv doesn't support 1080p but the ps3 always looked sharp on it but I can't change the resolution setting in the menu on the ps4 its set to automatic ,is there a chance my tv just isnt very compatable with it?

Re: Can't change resolution in settings

[ Edited ]

go to the settings menu-sound and screen-vide output and settings-resolutions

clicking on the resolutions should bring up a menu with the below options

automatic

480p

720p

1080i

1080p

choose the resolution you want and press x and that should apply it

Prepare Yourself!!!

Re: Can't change resolution in settings

I've got the same issue. My TV supports 720P and 1080I but on the PS4 all the options are greyed out and the output stays on 480P. With the PS3 there wasn't any problem and it worked fine! It would be nice if Sony would make update to fix this!!

Re: Can't change resolution in settings

Don't buy a new TV unless you really want to!

I believe this is an issue with the PS4 (as you say the PS3 works fine).  There are many of us with this issue and many threads on it (in the support forum).

All I can suggest is that you look at those threads for some email addresses of Sony people and let them know that you're another user who can't select a resolution that you know is supported and worked on the PS3.

A new TV isn't gauranteed to solve the problem either, we've got a 1080p TV that for some reason the PS4 won't allow us to select 1080p on (although the PS3 did).

This is a PS4 issue.  Whether Sony will acknowledge this and do something about it is another thing.

Re: Can't change resolution in settings

I got mine to work by plugging my ps4 into another tv/monitor. When the setting was set to auto, it brought it up to 1080p, I selected 1080p instead of auto, plugged it into my TV in my room, and it stuck even though the option is still grey and won't let me pick it anymore.
