Hello to everyone, newbie here so bear with me & also hopefully someone can help me.
I have recently bought a few games from the PSN store as I have decided to go with digital downloads rather than have physical discs due to there chance of getting scratched or damaged in other ways, however I find that the download speeds for the games is beyond a joke, if playstation want us to buy games from there store, then surely they should sort out this issue. I started downloading Warhammer 40,000 which is around 6GB and it states it will take over 450 minutes to complete, I also started downloading started to download inFamous 2 which is 15GB and that will take arount 5000 minutes, at those rates the games should be available to play by about Monday next. My download speed is a steady 60mb and I am with Virgin Media.
Xbox never took this long to download there games, so why does it take Sony so long, at this rate I cannot see digital downloads taking off...

Or wifi has crapped out again on the super hub. (Why any body would want it not in modem mode after all the failures reported on the web)
I downloaded LBP2 so fast as a test yesterday that it was done so quickly that I missed the download complete finish popup. installing took longer than the download from PSN.

No I have no issues with any other downloads, xbox no problems, torrents no problems, as I have had 6 superhubs already, due to the poor technical design and software, I refuse to tamper with it to change to modem only mode, even when I have played games such as CoD MW3, I have been designated as the game host on numerous occassions due to my download & upload speeds.
I am not using wireless just wired which is high grade UTP Cat 5e ethernet cable at arount 2 meters, game downloads on my computer are also quicker than one day for 5GB

VM won't admit to traffic shaping your local area on PSN ports untill enough users from your area report to them that they are being traffic shaped. but untill you put the device in to modem mode. Virgin media will have a free get out clause to blame your equipment for Killing the super hub speed. If you have killed Six allready then they will likely have a case. When other users have not KILLED any.
Xbox live was Allready traffic shaped in high use regions by VM last year, Xbox live users spent 3 months complaining over 150 untill 1 friendly tec on Newsgroup took his free time and found that Xbox live had been added to the Traffic shaping system by "mistake" in there areas. If your area has been tagged for Regional high usages they will enforce the FUP clause in addition to Traffic management window usage to cripple the high use services.

After checking with VM tech support (Not indian call centre this time) they ran a few checks, did safe mode on laptop to confirm download & upload speeds and I am getting a steady & constant 56mbs, and 3mbs upload respectfully, there are no issues in area, and checking my PSN download which at this time is Warhammer and Motorstorm Apocolypse pending, Warhammer which is just over 5GB will take 367 minutes to complete just over 7 hours and Motorstorm when warhammer has completed, will take over 8 hours, by which time I could have got them from Game and completed them.
As stated previously if the gaming industry hopes to go to digital downloads in the future, then Sony really need to update its Playstation Store by hiring new techie guys. Otherwise Xbox will leave them in the shadows more than they already are. I came to Playstation due to some of the exclusives such as Uncharted & Killzone, but apart from that, I am really regretting it, at least Xbox had decent download speeds and a 15mb update for a game would not take 30 mins.

Go to the ridge racer unbound demo click download and post how long it says the download estimate should be. then time it you should find that the qoute time is wrong.
The reason to use that demo as an example is be cause the file size is a multiple of 60MB near enough with only 9MB Over.

No problems with VM for me,
Talking of which when are you going to replace that slow speed test result in your sig with a proper high speed test.
You must have a lower ping by now .
even mines down to 20ms.
