"The connection with PlayStation Network timed out"

I've been sitting here now, for well over 20 minutes, trying to log in.

It's gotten to the point I'm playing my PSP while pressing the O and X buttons repeatedly on my PS3 controller with my toe every few minutes.

I wouldn't mind, but my whole reason for wanting to log in is to spend some money on the PS Store.

But it seems Sony don't want my money.

Pity, looks like they could do with it. Perhaps then they could afford to employ someone to fix this thing.

I'm not the only one, there are a few threads on here about the PSN not working.

Most of them blaming Fifa 10, but I don't own Fifa so it's not that.

I'm glad I didn't get a PSP Go, I'd be bouncing of the walls about now.

It's not good for Sony if people can't access the content for their new console.

Ironically, the thing I want to buy is a PSP game.

I'm getting extremely annoyed now.

Almost a hour.

My US PSN = Fine, My Japanese PSN = Fine, my friends UK PSN = Fine! And all on my console.

So why the hell can't I log in with my UK PSN?!

What have Sony broken?

I'd be okay if it was a universal problem, but my friends PSN ID logs in fine, so does my brothers.

It's been playing up all day, but I didn't mind, because it was kind of working.

But now...

This is absolutely ridiculous!

I'm getting 2 different messages now, the one from the title of this thread and "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network. (8002a548)".

How can I have been "Signed out", if I can't even sign in?

Re: "The connection with PlayStation Network timed out"

I've done everything.
I'm no stranger to computer technology.
Plus, checking the connection works fine in all 4 of the other PSN IDs on my console, it's just my main ID, the one I use for buying games and playing online.

My main account has done the same, it won't even sign back into PSN now. My secondat account does though, so its really weird.

Not sure what's going on there, then. I've been signed in all night with no problems.

Re: "The connection with PlayStation Network timed out"

It's just my primary account, all of the others work fine.
I've now logged in using 6 different PSN accounts (borrowed some friends IDs), and they all work fine, so do both of my US and Japanese accounts.
But for whatever reason Sony sees fit, my primary PSN account just will not log in.
It does on my PSP, albeit a little intermittent, but not at all on my PS3.

I'm extremely angry now.
It feels like Sony are punishing a select few. And I'm one of them.
I personally feel that we deserve compensation of some kind when/IF this ever gets resolved, but I can foresee nothing, not even a "Sorry for the inconvenience".
There are quite a few of these threads now, and not one of them has a PlayStation representative offering any explanation or even just posting to let us know it's been noted.

And even worse is that SCEE don't have an e-mail address to report these issues to. And I refuse to call a premium rate phone number to just be told to do something I've already done (I've tried everything) or something along the lines of "We're looking in to it".

SORT IT OUT SONY!
I didn't spend almost £500 on this console to not use it's features.

Re: "The connection with PlayStation Network timed out"

[ Edited ]

For any one interested the PSN is half working.

I can now log in on my PS3, but I can't access my PSN settings or the PS Store.

Also the PlayStation website won't let me log in "Maintenance" or something (not in the forums obviously).

The store says "This service not available in your country/region."

I'm finding this to be very pathetic. I'm a UK resident, with a UK PS3 connected to a UK ISP. So unless Sony have deemed UK as no longer applicable for the PS Store, then something is very wrong.

Re: "The connection with PlayStation Network timed out"

Still fine on this end. No problems with anything you're describing. Store works, I can change my settings too.

Might want to send an email off to Sony.
