hey guy and gals, i dunno if this question has already come up before but i thought i would just ask it again. anyways i have been searching the internet about sony's original idea that old psp users would be able to transfer their old UMD games to their pspGO and would recieve a code from the UMD game they had. but i've just learnt that apparently sont 'SCRAPPED' this idea? is this really true because i have 17 psp UMD discs and now i have a pspGO i will never be able to use them on it? ![]()
please help me because if this IS true, sony have made one hell of a mistake, unless i'm looking in the wrong place and it CAN be done? ![]()
thanks in advance ![]()

to tell the truth the UMD transfer idea was never scrapped due to the fact that Sony never intended to release any such scheme. it was something everyone wanted to happen but Sony just avoided the issue and never done anything about it.
Sony did offer people with UMD based console 3 free games if they proved they migrated to the PSP Go and kept their UMD based PSP as well. like mentioned you needed to have both consoles registered and activated and connected to PSN while inserting a UMD into the UMD based console to get the free game on the PSP Go. this was more a thank you offer than a UMD migration.
this is the problem with the PSP Go there is no way to get all the old UMD based software that most PSP users had before the PSP go release onto the PSP Go console, its annoying but the way it is. this is also a reason why the PSP 3000 was never discontinued and is sold along side the PSP Go. it gives customers the option of using UMD and DD on the PSP 3000 via a big memory card or you can go DD only with the PSP Go.
the only problem with the PSP Go is that it limits your options on buying software to PSN and you loose out on some great deals and games that the UMD drive offers, as well as missing out on saving some serious cash in the process.
most people i know who bought the PSP Go have since migrated back to a PSP 3000 or shopped about for cheap PSP 2000`s as they feel cheated by the PSP Go`s limited DD games library and being locked into PSN`s high RRP. moving back to the UMD based PSP gives them the option of shopping around for cheaper priced games on UMD but also allows them to use the games they purchased on PSN or download future DD content its just a case of having a big enough memory card and memory cards are now pretty cheap.

ah that's well stupid :/
i was gonna ring up the support line and ask, because i think if anything it's unfair that my UMD's can't be migrated to pspGO
i really really REALLY wish i had never of bought the GO, because all it's doing is sitting in my room on the side and there's no way in hell i'm paying those ridiculous prices in the playstation store.. ![]()
if anyone else has info please let me know, and anyone else curious about UMD migration ![]()

all i can say is join the line of migrators that bought the PSP Go then decided that it was a big waste of money. if its sat on the side doing nothing trade it in and get a PSP 3000 and a 8gb memory card like the rest of the PSP GO owners who decided PSN was a big rip off.
as for UMD migration just forget it !!!!!!
Sony have said its not possible due to copyright laws with game developers who are not willing to legally allow discless migration. so in short its never gonna happen.

@white666rose
UMD Drive catching your shirt? How the heck do you play your psp, on your belly? lolz
Yes it's true the PSP Go has some features that the other PSPs dont [bluetooth, 16gb flash memory, game suspend, more slick albeit smaller screen] the only problem - and it's kind of a big one - is the prices on the playstation store. Granted, there are plenty of sales going on at the moment, but still, I wish SCEE would cut down the prices of the games on the PSN to make us Go Owners a little less inclined to hold off from purchasing mass amounts of games.
To each his own - some people prefer digital copies of games for the portability, some prefer physical copies.
Either way, you cant go wrong with either the 3000 or the Go.
