I've been putting of playing my free "PSP Go Rewards" copy of Resistance: Retribution on my PSP Go, so as I could get my hands on the relevant gear to enjoy it fully.
"Fully" being the ability to use the PSP/PS3 connectivity and play it via the Resistance 2 connection.
Now, I could do this on my PSP 2000, and it was fine, but when I got my PSP Go, I traded in Resistance: Retribution as I was getting the "free" copy via the Rewards scheme.
And after a couple of months hunting I finally get the elusive official Sony branded PSP Go Dedicated Cradle, and I used my expertise in the electronics field to add a mini-USB port to it, so I could have my PSP Go on my TV, at the same time as linking it to my PS3. (The added mini-USB is needed due to the PSP Go having a new "all-in-one" hole for everything)
So all done, and tested I fire up Resistance 2, and also Resistance: Retribution and try the PSP/PS3 link, and nothing.
The PS3 doesn't even see Resistance: Retribution on the PSP Go.
So, thinking I may have made a mistake in my wiring of the new USB port, I try the USB lead that came with the PSP Go, and still nothing.
The instructions for the connectivity are in the Resistance: Retribution electronic manual on my PSP Go, but the link just doesn't work.
I've searched a few forums and it appears that the PS3s Resistance 2 can't see the PSP Go.
So, what? Is there a fix for this, or have Sony managed to kill one of the most unique features in modern gaming by not thinking their new product out correctly?
If anyone gets this working, I'd love to know how.
I'm thinking of investing in a decent sized M2 MemoryStick and copying the game onto that, to see if it's just the internal memory that isn't being read, but in saying that Jak X on the PS2 and Daxter on my PSP Go connect okay.
A final word here:
Anyone who mentions that the PSP Go can use a PS3 controller, rember this; the connectivity between Resistance 2 and Resistance: Retribution alters the control of the game, using both analogue sticks like a FPS/3rd Person game. Whereas just using a PS3 controller only uses the one stick.
Not to mention the whole "Infected" mode is impossible to access at the moment.
