AdHoc Party FAQ

[ Edited ]

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to put together an FAQ for AdHoc Party users - something to help the inevitable stream of newbies after Christmas to use the application and get involved with our events.

Concept = simple. You ask questions, I find answers! Or - if you know of a question which hasn't been answered yet - answer it yourself!

Hopefully we can put together a comprehensive guide for the less experienced :smileywink:

Once we've got a few I'll edit this post and put them all together with my magical formatting skills (MS Word).

Re: AdHoc Party FAQ

Here's one that everyone asks:

Why do I need a Wired Internet Connection to use AdHoc Party?

When your PSP is linked to your PlayStation 3 during the use of AdHoc Party, the PlayStation 3's wireless adapter is kept busy relaying information between the two consoles. In other words, the PS3's wireless adapter is too busy talking to your PSP to also talk to your router.

Also, because all adhoc compatible games up to yet are programmed to use the PSP's wireless adapter to communciate with other devices, it's not possible to divert this traffic through a USB cable.

Can i play any adhoc game? If not, Why?

Not necessarily. There's a list of supported games below, but quite a few work. If the game you want to play doesn't work on Adhoc Party, it's probably unable to communicate through your PlayStation 3. If you want any games to work - let us know here and we'll do our best to let the AdHoc Party team know :smileyhappy:

Its there a list of games you can use of adhoc party?

Yes! Currently compatible are:

Gran Turismo, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Dissidia Final Fantasy.

Other games may work, but we're not currently calling them 'supported'. More will be added in future!

Re: AdHoc Party FAQ

Hello. I just tried hosting a room in Monster Hunter Freedom United to play with 2 of my friends.. however before we even began our 1st quest, a communications error had occurred. When I re-entered the Gathering Hall, I was able to see my friends, and they were able to see me, but not each other. We all tried restarting our PS3s, our PSPs, and switching out AdHoc Channels to 1. Nothing worked, and we were very frustrated. Please tell me what went wrong and how we could fix it mayhap the chance ever occurs again.

Make sure you're all using the same version of the game. Check the disc codes.

Re: AdHoc Party FAQ

Me and my mate, we played over adhoc party and it worked great, but we couldnt get the voice chat over it working, even though program showed our headset icons as active and we had just had a chat over PS3s. Could this be the case of adhoc party using different ports for voice chat communication than plain-vanilla ps3 chat and if so which ports do i need to open?

My requests for SONY: 1) Integrate PlayStation3 and your 400 disc MEGACHANGER, Im way too lazy to switch game BDs, u could call it forexample MEGASTATION. 2) Build Specialized Fat-AiBO which has MEGASTATION in belly and two projectors as eyes for 3D projection in any given room of the house. You can call them PLAiBO.

Re: AdHoc Party FAQ

hi Cat,

did you end up fixing this problem? I am having the same issue on ad hoc party where as you explained I can see the 2 friends, but they have issues seeing each other. we have even played in the same room and it is fine, just over ad hoc party this issue has arisen.

we all have restarted ps3s, logged into different worlds in ad hoc world, different rooms, and swiched to the same channels on the ps3 and psps.
