Game could not be started Error 80020148

Somebody PLEASE help!

 

So i was just bought a PSP for christmas, 3000 model, and i tried to update the system software or firmware. After dowloading the eboot file on pc as well as via the internet on the console itself, i place it correctly in the folder psp-game-update. when i try to run the update i get the error, game could not be started error 80020148

 

Someone please give me some advice!!!

Is it a new console, or pre-owned? If its pre-owned, go to "Settings" > "System Settings" > "System Information", and then see what firmware it is running. if its something like X.XX followed by letters, its one that has been hacked using custom firmware, and you cannot update to the latest official firmware without first downgrading it.

I have the same error on my PSP since a few days. I bought it in store a few years ago and it never had costum firmware. I updated my psp to version 6.60 but it did not help a thing.

 

My psp did fall from the table last week, can that also be the reason of the error?
