Re: Media GO! On the Mac ...

Yup, im a Mac user and the fact there is still no Mac support is... retarded. I have to borrow my mum's diabolical laptop PC just to use this software.

What doesn't make sense is only supporting Windows is sort of encouraging/forcing consumer to buy/use windows which is obviously owned my Microsoft who funnily enough make the Xbox 360!

I just don't get it!!

Re: Media GO! On the Mac ...

I know most of us would love the media go on mac, I used to run windows on kindergarden, but now i prefer mac. I really got frustrated when I couldn't even sync movies or music with my mac. So i started digging out some info and the PSPware is kinda sweet. You can backup games, sync music, movies (it even converts them so you can actually see them), bookmarks, contacts etc. Right now I haven't tried the media go, but  I guess I will stick to pspware until somethng better comes up on mac.

ciao dudes

good luck with the viruses :smileytongue:I

To be fair, people being "forced to buy/use windows" because of PSP Media Go is a complete non-issue. The amount of people who already have access to Windows outweighs those who need to use Media Go but can't several million times over, in all probability. Even then, i seriously doubt there are many people who are going to buy a whole new computer or operating system just to use Media Go.
Still, i do think excluding Mac is abit silly. As a new product surely you don't really want to be excluding or shutting out any of your potential target userbase..?

Re: Media GO! On the Mac ...

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one suffering the lack of Mac support by Sony ... I thought I was the only one!

I agree that PSPware is a very neat piece of kit & in many ways better than media go as it is so easy to use. Still doesnt open a portal to the Playstation store for Mac users though! Does it sync downloaded games too, &/or work at all with the PSPgo!? I dont know?

The article linked below doesnt bode well for Mac users though ... & the real kick in the bum is that the whole idea sound very Apple to me ... cross product synergy allowing for seem-less sharing between like branded products?!?!

Sound like exactly how well a mac works with a ipod/iphone/time capsule/airport/apple tv to me ...

They dont sound like there developing anything for anyone other than themselves at the moment!

Re: Media GO! On the Mac ...

I do have some good & bad news ...

First the bad news ...

You have to tarnish your Mac hard drive with a copy of Windows!

But the good news ...

This vitualisation software which was previously suggested & I have tried before & it didnt work ... now seems to be playing with Media Go!

http://www.virtualbox.org/

Install the Virtualbox software & then get it to run Windows (I used XP as it was the only version I could get a cheap copy of) & then download Media Go! & hey presto it works. You have to make sure that you anable the Virtualbox virtual machine to access your USB drives otherwise Media Go! cant find the PSP when you plug it in.

Downloaded that latest Firmware via the store & uploaded it to the PSP fine & I also backed up all my games to Media Go from my PSP!

So there is a solution that I know works ... just depends how easily you can get hold of a copy of Windows ... I obviously bought my own copy & didn't borrow a friends copy at all (with the keycode written on the packet) ... I would never do, or suggest anyone should do anything like that ...

A proper Mac version of Media Go! would still be a good idea though Mr Sony if your listening! The above process is not a quick one & buying a copy of Windows, when all you want to do is run a simple piece of free software, is really NOT ideal!

Re: Media GO! On the Mac ...

I have a Windows partition i use for games which haven't got a mac version, and i'm fine with using MediaGo on that... but a proper Mac port would be a heck of a lot better.

Re: Media GO! On the Mac ...

Sony should consider the fact that there are a lot of people who prefer to use macs than pcs. Even if sony and apple are rivals sony should still develop  a suitable application for mac users to sync games from the playstation unto their psp. If sony don't it will affect both the mac users who have a psp go and the psp go which might affect their economy it will not affect apple one bit if they dont create an app for mac os x. Just like blackberry they did not have a suitable app suite for mac os x and what happened they had problems now blackberry have made a fantastic one for os x. Sony would face the music if they dont create one for mac. But as for now the only way you can run psp media go on mac is by using and installing media go on crossover or installing windows by bootcamp or parallels desktop/vmware fusion/virtual box and then installing it on the windows os. I am also wondering why media go on pc allows you to sync your itunes library(which is made by apple) to your psp. As far I am concerned if sony refuse to make media go on mac os x it means that they are being racist to apple. If sony fail to do so then apple should sue sony for allowing and making the media go sync the itunes library to the psp.

I AM A MAC USER AND MACS ARE BETTER THAN PCS

Re: Media GO! On the Mac ...

I certainly hope they port it over, it really isn't fair. But I'd also like this software to be ported to Linux as well, being a Linux user myself. When will Sony listen to its consumers????

PSP 3000 owner since 25 Dec '09... and proud of it!
