Re: Rumour – PSP2 “as powerful as the PS3,” uses “media format

All i want is a umd drive in it. If not i won't even think about getting one. With some of the best games the psp has ever seen coming out this year and those with a big umd collection, it would be stupid if you can't play them.

There could be away around that. Connecting the psp with a umd inside to a ps3 or even psp2, and installing it on the psp2. With that tho, sony would loose out as you would be able to sell the umd and keep a digital copy.

I don't think Sony will put a UMD drive into the PSPs successor.
It will probably cite cost issues, which is a shame as UMD is actually a very good media format considering the capacity/size ratio of what is basically a tiny CD thingie.

Umd is a great format. Especialy because the discs don't get scratchd. Sony will be retards if they don't put it in because there are games only on umd that are not on the store. They need to listen to their customers

I dont really care about my collection, i'd keep the psp for them, but i do agree that i wont touch it if it is download from store only, no matter how powerful.

With a portable device, it is difficult to balance the convenience of digital only and the reality that people like physical media. I will get the PSP2 no matter if it is digital only however I do prefer physical media as I can look at a collection and trade/lend games.

Oh and I wouldn't care if they had to make it an extra half-inch thick, I really want solid battery to match that power, 5-6 hours would be a real bonus, although highly unlikely.

I dont think so. Since Ps3 shows 1080p image. Psp2 will do the same like in Nokia N8 720p and proply have mini hdmi. Since there is no point showing 1080p image on 4 inch screen. And more power full device less battery life

Yeah it's a bit like that isn't it. 3DS just doesn't interest me. I don't know why though. I think it is due to the fact that it is the DS brand and in the past, never liked it. Heard good things about it though so not sure. I just want PSP2!! And AWESOME launch titles, that with determine the PSP2 success.

There is no point adding 7 cores to Psp2 or set 1080p resolution to 4inch screen. Psp2 has power full grapichs but it cant win Ps3 in biger screen grapichs. Psp2 will proply have mini Hdmi like Nokia N8
