Will the PSP E1000 suit my needs?

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum.

I have been considering purchasing a PSP and since I cannot afford the higher end models, I decided that the best one would be the PSP E-1000. I am aware of the monaural speaker, no wifi, having to dl updates through a cable etc etc. But I need to know some other things about it :

Does it have any notable performance differences to other models (Low FPS, poorer graphics rendering etc)?

Is it fairly durable or is it likely to break due to the cheaper manafacturing than other models?

Can you still download things off of the PSN store?

What is it's battery life per full charge? Does it depend on the games?

Can it play any PSP game without problems?

Does the joystick snap off if you use the console extensively?

Thank you for reading this, and I look forward to your answers!

Re: Will the PSP E1000 suit my needs?

Hi, im not sure if i can give you all the answers, but i will help as much as I can:

1) Performance wise, all PSP models are near-identical, the only differences between models has been a slight update to the screen (newer LCD tech, apparently slightly brighter). I am not sure, but i think the E1000 has the 3000 screen, so basically the newer screen. Inside wise, it will be the same, no new performance issues

2) The PSP in general is quite sturdy, so I dont believe this will be too different. Dropping it obviously will damage it, but I dropped my PSP (admittingly it was the original bulky 1) loads, and works a dream to this day

3) You cannot download things off the PSN Store DIRECTLY from the console, as this needs wi-fi, however you can use MediaGO on the PC to access the PSP version of the PSN store and download and transfer games to and from the console and the PC.

4) Battery life is apparently the same as all the others, so about 8hours play, screen brightness / volume / game dependant (using UMD games uses more battery due to the moving parts - laser, etc. whereas using PSN downloaded games uses slightly less battery because it doesnt need to be scanned)

5) In theory, it should be able to play all PSP games, no problem. the only 1's it will struggle with are the online-only games, and then games which have online features, the online features wont be accessible (due to lack of wi-fi)

6) the analogue stick on my original still is in good shape after about 7 years, so i think the E1000's will be pretty decent.

Hope this helps

The psp E-1000 has better graphics than the psp 1000,2000,3000 and the battery life is much better than 2000 and 3000 you can download games from the playstation store and the psp E-1000 is more stronger and has a better life than psp 2000 and 3000 the screen is amazing.

psp E-1000 analog stick is more stronger than the psp 2000 and 3000. The E-1000 screen is more brighter and stronger.

if i was gonna choose what psp to get today, i would go for the psp2000... it got the best from the psp1004 and psp3000.

1. no interlacing screen as the psp3000(smooth screen, with a little screen dragging is better in my option)
2. it got 64mb system ram so it read faster the games etc (psp1004 got 32mb)
3. its slim design as the psp3000
4. the speaker are not under the console as they are on the psp1004.

one thing i didnt like about the psp3000 was screen interlacing.. read about it here..
http://www.pspworld.com/sony-psp/accessories/sonys-official-word-on-psp-3000-interlacing-problem-009...

i got the psp1004, its okay and will do until i get a psvita next year.... but i have one advice to everyone that are looking for a psp... dont get the pspgo, then you will be stuck with the psn store games and prices... umd disc based games is everywhere and goes cheap these days, and there is more games on the disc than digital.

The OP already knew about wifi and speakers. Brightness and volume button dont make much odds, battery non-removable aint a big deal. Also, you CAN access PSN, but via PC or PS3 rather than the PSP system itself.
