Re: is it legal?

i picked no buy accident, got the question confused:Scared: dunno if it is illegal, but i use other people wifi all the time.if they have there widfi on and no security you can just treat it as if it was a free hotspot. In response to what tyrant said, no one has ever been prosecuted for tresspasing, its not illegal either, its if you cause to damage to the property you're tresspasing on, thats when you get in trouble

Just to prove it IS illegal!!

Re: is it legal?

I doub't you would get done for it. That man should have just lied or not have been as obvious. He could have said he was waiting for something and just not tell them he was on the internet.

Re: is it legal?

It's 100% illegal to use someone else's internet connection without the person' consent.

Re: is it legal?

you'll be considered a thief anyway because you took something that wasn't yours... Or Am I wrong?

The definition of thft is stealing something without intending to give it back. As to wether using a neighbours Wi-Fi is theft, the answer is kinda yes but not to the true definition. Just ask if you can use it.

Re: is it legal?

It's so easy to do it, so why not? And there is a very, very slim chance you will get caught.

Re: is it legal?

Oh, you can probably still do it without getting caught, but the question was whether or not it's illegal.

I agree. The only way they'll know someone's leeching their connection is by going into the router and looking at connected devices. a) if they can do that already, why wouldn't they set up an encryption or MAC filtering? b) it is a trap, and there is probably an FBI / CIA / SAS agent is waiting to arrest you

how very wrong you are. i dont. that's why i'm asking in the first place. and to all of you who posted saying it was illegal, thanks for being honest. all i wanted to know was if it was worth it, as i DO NOT want to have a cryminal record at 13. However, there is the fact that what if someone was really stupid, and when they set up the network for the psp, they used the wrong network, would that mean they get arrested if caught?
