I have seen several places that when browsing through files, movieclips related to those files gets played in the background. As with games you get pictures and music played in the background while browsing the XMB menu.

Any info on what this feature is called, and where to learn more about it?

They are just animated Previews/thumbnails.

Wallpaper. Audio or Video clips. 

Not New idea the OS is able to run a small preview image automaticly when the cursor is placed over it.

When I created files for PSP the Application did every thing. 

Quick look on google

Try that app I guess with the usual windows OS precautions. then look for free versions that do the same.

Had a quick look at it. But it does not appear to be what Im looking for.

I already have related icons for the files beeing listed in the XMB menu.

But how do I get my the PS3 to play a movie clip in the background, the same way the PS3 does when you are browsing your installed games?

Hang on moves to PS3. ( Ditches PSP manual page, wrong XMB. gets PS3 manual ready )

Think you mean the mini video clip....

is set buy.

Opening the file,

Navigate the file to start point where you want the clip..

bring up the on screen menu with triangle.

move across to "Create icon" icon.

Click it .

You cant run a Full screen movie under the XMB it stops. (feature was lost  the same time the PS3 got the feature to Run H264, level 5.1. 120fps, 3D movies from HDD )

Trying to set a wallpaper like this....

is not possible for domestic user.

Thanks. I think this is as close as Ill get at the moment.

Only thing is that it does not work with files stored on a media server atm =)

Animated on media server no. but you should be able to see a static Preview image.

If your media server supports it.

You can ether let it pic the pic or you can create an art folder and name the file the same as the video.
