One of the bonuses of the remote play feature has been taken away!
Whenever my wife and two teenage daughters wanted to watch the latest series of 'does my bum look big in this' or 'the life of a teenage shopaholic mum with aspergers' on bbc3 i could always go off upstairs, connect my psp to my tv and kick back with iplayer via the ps3 remote play.
Not any more ![]()
For some reason, since the last update i player doesn't work through remote play any more.
all the other channels still work, video and music streaming still works (via the ps3 hdd) but for some reason the bbc have decide to take out one of the most rewarding aspects of i player.
They did exactly the same with the myplayer app on my android phone, and I've heard they did the same on the iphone app (not confirmed).
Why am I paying the licence fee again? And who at sony said ' yeah, that sounds like a good idea'?
While I'm in a ranting mood, why isn't lovefilm remote play friendly? seriously think they're missing a trick there.

The stand alone App uses DRM to protect the HDTV feeds this also protects the SD feeds. These apps dont allow mirroring.
Lovefilm App is the same type of technology with DRM protection.
So remote play was never going to be allowed.
Remote play is not just on PSP its also on PCs. ( and thats their main reason for DRM right there. content providers dont like unprotected HD.)
Very few games even allow remote play.
You have to manualy use the browser on PS3 and go to...
www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/bigscreen.
Which can be then mirrored to PSP via remote play..
The choice was BBCs to goto A standalone app to provide HD content.
No one elses.
Its a 720p HD application not like the old one that you were lucky to get over 360p with.
Enjoy the big screen player mirror while you can as the firmware for ofter HDTVs gets updated the site wont be needed.
YouTube PS3 companion app HD video, NA 1.04/EU 1.00 720p HD Video
( Remote access controll usage, No DS3 used... )
