Re: Post Your Gaming Area Setup

Don't quote me on this, but I don't believe the PS3 does onboard decoding of DTS-MA. It sends it out to your amp to do the decoding.

my amp came with the little detachable microphone that helps you setup the sound staging so it all sounds good.

The PS3 can decode DTS-HDMA. It was a feature added with one of the firmware updates earlier this year. The PS3 can decode ALL audio codecs.

To take advantage of the onboard decoding of the HD audio codecs, your amp must accept LPCM over HDMI.

The microphone that comes with the Home Theatre Systems do a reasonable job of calibrating the Amp, however, I found that I got much more accurate results by manually setting the speaker distances and timing.

Re: Post Your Gaming Area Setup

I thought it just reads DTS-MA off the disc and sends it via HDMI to the amp? Didn't know it can decode it as well.

The ps3 can only send true hd & dts hd via lpcm,  it can not send it to the amp as uncoded  hd, so there is no way to get you amp to decode hd formats from the ps3.. lpcm is the same anyway..  I wonder how many people went out and paid top dollar for a amp that can decode hd formats, then found out there is no way of letting the amp decode it....

OK, so go back a few pages and find my setup, i reckon my speakers would give yours a good run for thier money, especially in the mid ranges. I think your amp might have the edge over mine, but im not sure of your exact model. And c'mon, the OC, you gotta be kidding... lol. But then im an SBS junkie, so i suppose my TV tastes dont have much cred really

with your bose cubes have you got a true 6.1 setup? the reason i ask is my old man recently got a new amp and when i went to wire it up for him i realised his bose cubes were running into his sub then from that to his old amp, which really ment that the sub was just acting as the front drivers and the cubes were the tweeters. we left it as is so now he's looking at getting a new subbie too... possibly a whole new front stage.
