Re: Signature Request Thread

I have a question for the Photoshop gurus here...

I wanted to make an animated User Bar (I have animations down pat so that isn't the issue) - I took a heap of modified User Bars from another forum. He had adapted them  by putting an image over the top in paint (apparently) and posted them up. The files I copied had transparent backgrounds.

Unfortunately they were a wierd file format, so I opened them in Irfanview then saved them as .jpgs. Problem is they now have a black background instead of transparent. I've tried using magnetic lasso but I really suck at it and if I keep going the way I am, my XPS will be violently embeded in the wall opposite me.

All I wanna do  is get rid of the black background *****... shouldn't be too hard!

Here is one of the offending images:

I'm using Photoshop CS (the release version I think - had it for ages but never used it much)

If you still have the original weird image formats try opening them in irfanview again and saving them as .png files. Jpeg doesn't support transperant backgrounds. Also instead of using magnetic lasso, try using the magic wand  and set the tolerance to about 10. If it doesn't select all that you want, hold down shift and click the areas that you want to include.

Re: Signature Request Thread

Thanks - They were originally png but for some reason there was a corruption on the transfer and the '.' disappeared from the .png.

I've sorted it now so thanks for that - should have it all done in a couple of hours... I'll have to remember the Magic Wand because I have never had any success with the Lasso and I hate it with a passion!

Magic wand has saved me from many hours of frustration a few times. The only time I ever use lasso now is when the colours are way to close for magic wand to tell the difference. In my current sig the guy on the left was mostly cut out using the magic wand :smileyhappy:

Wow thats really cool dessy :smileyhappy:

Can I just make a couple suggestions.

1: At the begining when the first image fades out, instead of fading it completly out then bringing the next image in. fade from the first image to the second image, then at the end fade from the last image back to the first image

2: This is just me being a perfectionist, but a a couple of the images don't align properly

Re: Signature Request Thread

Yeah I was going to work on the fades now that the basic gif is operating... and the misalignment in a couple of them was due to the stupid snap-to. For some reason 3-4 wouldn't snap correctly, so I snapped them as close as possible grouped their frames together to minimise it. I was looking at playing around with tweening or some other mechanism to try to make the incorrect snap position 'disappear'.

Re: Signature Request Thread

Is someone able to do me a SackBoy one? I'd like it to be in a similiar theme to the US presidential election campaign stickers (Go here for more ideas)

So yeah, anyone? :smileytongue:
