Well, hopefully I posted this under the correct thread...

I was just wondering whether Sony had any plans to release an update which will enable you to play NTSC PS2 games on a PAL PS3. I would rather legally purchase original PS2 games online than resort to piracy, and would therefore like to know whether there is any legal way to play my ordered PS2 games on my PAL PS3.

Sorry mate but without a mod chip of some sort I don't think that is possible.

The only way to do this at present is to import an NTSC PS2 to play the games on. Of course then you'd also need an adaptor to be able to plug it in so that you didn't blow it up.

slimline playstation as far as i know steps down the voltage anyway, mate bought one the other day, works fine over here, only a plug adapter

I have really wanted to play my old ps1 games lying around through remote play, however when i first got a ps1 i was living in england using PAL games. I have moved to another country since then and my ps3 won't play my old games! i wanted to know if there was an update coming for it, or if it is possible to do something about this.

I would appriciate any help.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but... Trying to play the NTSC-US PS2 game on a PAL PS3 is just as illegal as the piracy. Please don't resort to such things. To answer your question: No, it's not possible and it will never be.

can you explain to me how is it piracy? the PS3 is genuine article not modded or anything and the NTSC games are genuine also. how does two genuine article become an illegal article? we are just asking for sony to allow this so that we, people who live in Australia dont have to mod our console in order to play games that never come out in Australia (Tales of Abyss, Xenosaga Ep1, 3, Suikoden 3, and many more good games.)
