Mercury Meltdown Remix

Hi

I am having great trouble completing mercury meltdown remix. I have brought 3 copies of the game and tried it on 2 different ps2 consoles, and it always freezes around 80%. Does anyone know why this is happening and if anything can be done to fix it.
