Just  out of interest how people on this site want to see ps2 games running on the ps3 again? & do you think that Sony should now discontuie the ps2  to keep the cost of the ps3 down making the ps3 the machine that can do everything and the fact that it would up the sales of the ps3 to over take Microsofts console would be great what do you think?

I sure would love to see PS2 backwards compability to return on the PS3. As would many others, it's the second most wanted wish on the Playstation Share website.

sadly, I will be getting a ps3 this christmas and putting my ps2 in my bedroom. That is because im sick of xbox consoles high failure rates. My slim ps2 is about 6 years old and It's never had problems.

Why? Don't your PS3's play PS2 games?
Seriously though I'd like to see new models (and the PS4) being able to play PS2 games. I spend most of my time on PS3 playing on FF10 and 12 and then I go to FF13 and oblivion. PS2 games have the real essence of gamers. Alone, detached and without communication is the way games should be played.

Although, for the vast majority of PS2 games, times have moved on, there's still gems a lot of us have (Primal for me, and Buzz if it worked properly) that we would go back to if possible now and again.
We're all convinced the PS3 power reserves make a fully software-based PS2 emulator a viable option, even with Sony's questionable misgivings about 'its users' safety'.

Yes, I still have a working 60Gb returned from the dead, but it's in retirement now.

Well, it would be nice to see PS2 backward compatibility again, but however I guess people dont buy PS3 console to play PS2 games on it, its just that this features gives an option to have a single machine. Those who already have PS2 might be playing games on that machine it itself.

Keeping the cost down, it might help in that.

I would still like to see PS2 and PS2 games being developed for some more time.

It's possible the worst mistake Sony Made. Why get rid of it. Isn't it simple enough to keep emulation on
