my ps2 is still connected up.. i still play it now and again i have over 50 games and i still buy games too.. games are cheap and still hold up now and look real good using a component cable.. in the sence of retail and sales and the amount of people that play them yes they are pretty much dead.. but to the individual its all personal and i still enjoy playing p2

even thou the new releases become less and less for it the console itself is still selling well. even with little new content there is a huge catalogue of games.had some great times with my ps2 but i think its time is up.ps3 prices coming down a lot now.

PS2 is still an awesome console and a good choice for parents who don't want to spend too much. SSX Tricky still get's loaded in mine every now and again. Maybe when SSX comes out for the PS3 I'll finally pack away the PS2.

Has PS2 died?

In terms of new games it is dying, I bought PES 2012 so there have been some games but I am pretty sure they won't put PES 2013 on PS2, or if they do it will be barely tinkered with.

The reasons it will never truly die are the same reasons ZX Spectrum, Megadrives and even PS1's haven't - they don't make games like the old ones and nostalgia. Find me a game like Rebelstar, Rescue, Starquake etc on a newer console? Find me International Pro Evolution for PS1 on newer consoles. Find me Megadrive games like Chaos Engine on newer consoles?

Some games are simply classic but unavailable to play on new consoles other than through compatibility or indeed emulators. I love Championship Manager 2006 and to a lesser degree 2007 on PS2, I have it on PC after my PS2 died over Christmas but it isn't the same and far too much like FM for the PC.

Still got mine hooked up and I still buy games for it, mostly from ebay which are dirt cheap. Just recently bought a brand new copy of Ar Tonelico Melody and Odin Sphere. Gonna go back to the ps2 hopefully fairly soon as I want to finish off Persona 3 and then go onto try Persona 4. As you can guess I'm a big rpg fan and the genre has been well presented on this console.

No, my dad and I still regularly use our PS2s since it has some of the greatest games of all time (in my opinion anyway). I still play quite a bit of Final Fantasy X (trying to legitimately beat Bahamut, Anima and the Magus Sisters...), SSX 3, Gran Turismo 4 and the best 3 Tony Hawk games.

I still like to play some old Ratchet and Clanks and I really liked the Robot Wars game as well

Not worth selling, they're worth pennies. Of course it's reacing (and maybe already reached) the end of its life, but that doesn't mean it'll spontaneously combust. Just play the games you like on it.
