Re: do you think that ps2 has died !!! ?

My PS2 is still hooked up and running just fine as I still play some PS2 games for nostalgia, fun and the fact my PS3 can't play PS2 games. Fortunately my PS3 can play PS1 games so I don't have my PS1 hooked up but put away safely with my PS1 games (that I have left), got the PS1 back in 1995 and still going strong!

No, not at all. All that has happened is that most retaillers have stopped selling ps2 games due to them not being able to generate enough sales from customers. The same thing happened with the ps1, and that remained in production until 2006, after the xbox 360 had launched!

PS2 is dying.

[ Edited ]

I would say that PS2 is dying. Someone mentioned, for instance, recently about no shops having PS2.

Sony Playstation can also make gaming life difficult for some of us PS2 users. I obtained the game "Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams edition" online from the USA. It was only because I couldn't obtain it elsewhere. That was basically the same time I obtained a PS2 console, and a few games locally (South Africa). I automatically assumed the console would be multi-system, with PAL and NTSC. Only to find it's not the case. "Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams edition" is also only available in NTSC. Now, the similar game "Williams Pinball Classics" is only available for PSP and PS3. And yet the Gottlieb Pinballs are available for the PS2 no problem.

I obtained "Williams Pinball Classics" for the PSP, as I was sure it said on the PS2 instruction that those can be played on the PS2. Only to again find it's not the case. What a struggle.

The game "Tron: Evolution" is also only available for the PSP and PS3. It looks like there's more available for PSP and PS3.

The PS3 console was apparently multi-system, with e.g. PS2, PAL, NTSC, etc. until the 80GB one. These should be available again.

So, can see what I mean by PS2 dying.

I would also prefer all my PS games to also be available for the PC, and thus rather play them there.
