Error message 80029940

23 Replies 55,355 Views Created 03-02-2009
I just got a problem with playing Blue ray movies on my PS3. I've looked through the messages, and somone suggested that I went back to factory adjustments. I just did, and now I still can't play blueray dvd's but I get a message that an error 80029940 have occured. Does anybody know what this means, and how I may fix that problem?

Re: Error message 80029940

Go into you're settings and find Super-White

If it's on then turn it off.

This is a known error on the PS3 that should be fixed ASAP!

Re: Error message 80029940

OK, I just tried that, and it didn't work. It still won't play any blueray dvd. It actually aleady was turned off.

Any other suggestions? Are there any place I could find what the error code means?

Re: Error message 80029940

Try resetting you're system settings!

Does this happend to all BD Movies or just some?

Many people have had the errors and they just try some other disc and it works

I don't know exactly what the error means but it has to do with BD Read error!

PS: Google is a good thing!

Re: Error message 80029940

Thnx

I've googled around, and found some suggestions, but so far no one works. I just wrote the question here to ask if anybody had another solution, or maby an explanation. I haven't tried the fix suggested from It_is_Me_iT on the american forum.

PS!

Just got a mail from a forum that states the the 80029940 message means that the blue ray is defect and have to be replaced :-( Bummer

Hm very strange many people who had the error just waitied some time (maybe for a new FW) then it

started working again!

Good luck to you!

If you're warranty is out you can buy a replacement BD Optical block online!

Here's one store who has it: PS3 BD Optical block

It's easy to change!

Thanks this worked for me mate. Just trying to watch Godfather 2 when it popped up. However, for some reason it was already off and I turned it on and it worked. Hope this works for other people out there. :smileyhappy:
