Re: Battlefield 3: Choose Your Class

Only played a little bit myself so far, but it already drops a big ol' Cleveland Steamer on that other series of games (you know, the one that rhymes with Shmodern Shmarfare) for the simple fact that in the small amount of MP I've played so far, I didn't encounter a single one of the following types of player that I both loathe and despise:

- The Frat Jock ("BOOM! Headshot! You can't beat me! I'm going to go chug another 6 energy drinks!!!")

- The 12 Year Old Boy ("I f***in' own you, noob! I can't right now, Mum. I'm playing!")

- The "50 Cent" ("Y'all can't beat me, y'all punk bitches! What the f***, I'm dead?!? You cheatin' *****!")

Plus, you can't go wrong with vehicular warfare.

Re: Battlefield 3: Choose Your Class

[ Edited ]

So its been out awhile now, so whats everyone fav class/loadout?

I started out as support and really liked it, and when i unlocked everything for it i favored the PKP Pecheneg which has good fire rate and one of the more powerful guns of any class but it does have a fair bit of recoil so short bursts are the order of the day, with that i used the IRNV which was really good to use before they went and changed it on me, but it still works well on some maps, others (which i know what it does and doesnt work on) it doesnt.

It didnt bother me which hand gun i used as the LMG has a LOT of ammo and i fed myself ammo anyway (along with everyone else, which seems a lost art now :smileysad:  )

I used C4 alot to get those pesky tanks, and Squad Suppression. So most of my time has been as a support class but sinced ive maxed that class out ( before the Karkand expansion) im now on to the Assult class.

Now i thought that the PKP was a good gun but little did i know about the Famas...................which i unlocked from the Kark pack, now i really struggle going back to the support class as there is a BIG difference in recoil. The assult guns ive tried are nowhere near as bad with recoil as the LMGs, that and the Famas is AWESOME!

Short bursts again but its a very powerful gun so you dont need alot to kill even having only 30 in a clip, which i did struggle with at first as going from 100/200 clips to 30 is a big difference, but now ive got the hang of it it really is good.

I swap between the Reflex sight and the IRNV scopes with the defib as you can not only help your team win by getting tickets back, but you also get 100 points for each revive which is what you get for a kill, so its reall worthwhile reviving which doesnt happen as often as it should :smileysad: The only bad point about an assualt class is they have nothing to take vehicles out with which i find a pain. I use squad ammo with that class and have now got the magnum as my secondary weapon.

Other than that,im really enjoying the assault class.

What is a pet peive though is the engineers, now i not bagging them,i just dont see a need to spam the launchers in the Metro map, thats really gay. I mean theres no tanks/cars etc so its just cheap no skill kills. rant/

The recon class i havent really had a good go at yet, but thats cause i suck at sniping

So thats my view on the BF3 world, so whats your fav?

Re: Battlefield 3: Choose Your Class

Enjoy the FAMAS while you can, it's going to be nerfed, and the iron sights on that thing are horrible.

I started out as Engineer, fave set up was either the Scar,G36C or A-91 with Holo (A-91 with IRNV was killer, but felt kinda cheap).M1911 w/Tac Light as backup. Used the RPG/SMAW and switched out with the stinger if required (although it is practically useless now), and AT Mines (again, practically useless now), and squad explosive.

Then I switched to support, dont have a real fave weapon yet, liked the default gun, but now use the QBB-95 alot w/Holo. M9 w/Tac light as side arm, C4 (looove taking down tanks with that stuff) and squad explosive.

Metro isn't just full of RPG spamming Engy's, it also full of M320 spamming assault, and fraged up USAS-12 whores.

+1.

Metro is a spam-fest.

In saying that, sometimes it can be a good change up of maps after playing a few hours worth of open-ness (and sometimes empty-ness).

A good thing to do in that map is avoid the clogged up bottlenecked firefights, and take another path straight past the Flag everyone is fighting for, and go the flag past that (usually the flag closest to the enemies base, which is normally unprotected)

As much as im loving the game, and im addicted to it - it has many glitches that should simply not be present considering how long its been out. Most of these bugs were a problem in the Beta -for them to still be in there weeks after release, and a 700mb patch, is pathetic.

The other bad thing is gamers. Unfortunately this cant be fixed with a patch.

Some people should just go and play CoD, i dont care if you prefer BF3 over MW3, or you consider yourself a Battlefield fan - if you dont use teamwork  - you shouldnt be playing.

Teamwork, for example, is;

Dropping med packs and ammo packs, reviving teammates, repairing vehicles, spotting, selecting assualt/defend commands when squad leader, spawning on your squad, providing covering fire, etc etc etc etc

Sooooooooo many times ive ran out of primary ammo, so i try killing a few people with my pistol - if i see a support teammate ill ran up to him, press 'select' to request ammo about 10 or 20 times, if he doesnt drop a pack, i follow him while emptying out the rest of my pistol ammo on him, if still no ammo pack is dropped, i start knifing him (all the while still pressing select) -if still no ammo packs, hopefully he gets killed and ill refuse to revive him, and steal his kit.

This  often happens in big firefights - like the alleyway in Grand Bazaar, sometimes with 4 or 5 support  guys there, and not one ammo pack to be found.

The other thing that often happes, is ill go a whole game with not one squad member spawning on me - which is fine, up to them really - except when im the only one in the team trying to take a flag/position - and dead squad mates still wont spawn on me to assist the steal....

In terms of what i play as - probably about 50% assualt, 30% support, 18% engi and 2% recon.

(im not sure of the actual percenteges, and cant be bothered looking right now lol)

Agunzi: a tip for support - when using the LMGs, particuarly the Pechengy-thingy-ma-bobby (lol cant remember what its called), try using the bipod -

Firstly you can mount it to a large amount of small walls etc around the maps, which also provides you with cover, Secondly it will reduce the recoil much more than the foregrip.

If i rememer correctly its a 7.62mm round, which is big lol. hence the recoil, especially compared to the M249 which is .223 (or 5.56mm)

Re: Battlefield 3: Choose Your Class

^^ yeah on the bipod, but since ive maxed it out, i rarely go support any more, but i will need to as im so close to the 50hrs as support medal

Just struggling to get away from the assault class, and i hear what your saying about the supports not dropping ammo, its not hard, left on the d-pad, pretty easy huh? You'd think so but apparently its a bit hard for most players these days :smileysad: I always used to supply ammo as proven by my almost 3 x supply medal :smileytongue:

In saying that about being assault, i have changed up a bit, when i play on Caspian, Karg Island or Firestorm i have been picking the Engineer class because im more often than not in a tank, so need to repair every so often.

Its good playing with my mate, as we go different classes so we usually do well together.
