Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD

[ Edited ]

Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is the best elements of THPS 1 and 2, upgraded for today with sharp visuals and fresh content. Available for download on consoles US Summer 2012 (June/July for us).

The soundtrack for the game was recently accounced and includes a mix of tracks from the original games as well as a selection of new tracks. They are:

  • “Bring the Noise” Anthrax featuring Chuck D
  • “Superman” Goldfinger
  • “When Worlds Collide” Powerman 5000
  • “Heavy Metal Winner” Consumed
  • “May 16″ Lagwagon
  • “No Cigar” Millencolin
  • “You” Bad Religion
  • “The Bomb” Pigeon John
  • “We the People” Lateef the Truthspeaker
  • “Marathon Mansion!” Pegasuses-XL
  • “Teenage Blood” Apex Manor
  • “Please Ask for Help” Telekinesis
  • “Flyentology (Cassettes Won’t Listen Remix)” El-P featuring Trent Reznor
  • “USA” Middle Class *****

It has also been confirmed that DLC will be coming to THPS HD coming after release (shock horror!), and the first batch will be levels from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3.

THPS2 got me into the series and also some really decent bands so I'm eager to get my hands on this one.

Re: Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD

It'll be interesting to see what happens with it. The main apprehension I have is that it's based on the first 2 games, but the moves are based on the later games. I can remember racking up monster combos on TH3 + 4, but mainly because those levels were designed to use manuals, reverts etc. I can't help but think the layouts won't give the same freedom as they were a little more cramped and weren't designed for the big combo chains specifically. If that makes sense...

Having said that, I'll most likely buy it. Then we can add it to the list of retro games we'll get around to playing at some point :smileytongue:

Day 1 release for me, poured many hours into this series, such a great game. Didn't really like their games that came out after THPS4 tho, so going back to old school sounds good to me.

Re: Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD

Me and my brother spent many an hour tearing each other apart on horse mode THPS1, no manuals so limited to that specific area most of the time to do tricks. Makes for good competition as you cant just manual off to the same spots

No Horse mode in this one unfortunately, also no split screen, which is a real shame. These features may come later as DLC but i'll be holding off until then.

Re: Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD

Picked this up off the US store over the weekend (considering it's nearly $10 cheaper, sigh). I've read some negative comments about the physics but they seem just fine to me. Was a nice trip down memory lane.

I really do suck at it though at this stage, been too long since I played one I guess. There isn't any reverts in it at this stage which might be part of it. Reverts will come, and only be usable, in the upcoming DLC apparently as those stages will be from the third game.

The main reason I have not picked up this is no splitscreen. I remember some great grafitti and horse sessions back in the day

Re: Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD

Loved the old Tony Hawk games on the PS2, would be nice to play this again.

No splitscreen is a bugger, imo all games like this should support local multiplayer via splitscreen. I'm looking at you SSX!

:Shame:

I'm sure this game will be good for what it is - but there is just too much potential lost here. Hopefully they'll go the route of NBA Jam and launch a tweaked version next year...

Re: Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD

Really disappoint no splitscreen. It's really starting to get to me the lack of it around...
